Shawn Mendes Turns Up The Heat In Miami With The Weeknd For 24th Birthday

Pop singer Shawn Mendes is having the time of his life.

The Grammy award nominee, who turns a year older today, kicked off his birthday by making a surprise appearance at The Weeknd's DJ set in LIV Miami on Saturday. He was also spotted hanging out at the DJ booth with DJ Kaytranada and, later, The Weeknd.

The "It'll Be Okay" crooner was allegedly in high spirits and had an amazing time at the LIV nightclub. This comes after the Canadian native shared that he was canceling all his tour dates in Europe and North America to focus on his mental health.

Mendes kicked off his 24th birthday at the LIV nightclub in Miami, where he made a surprise appearance and linked up with The Weeknd.

A source told People that the singer had a good time and seemed to be in amazing spirits. "He was in amazing spirits and looked super happy to be in Miami, relaxed and enjoying the environment."

The source disclosed that Mendes was at the DJ booth with his pal, DJ Kaytranada until The Weeknd arrived. After the singer came, the pair went to meet him on stage.

Hours before he headed out to the club, the "Wonder" artist was spotted at the beach, showing off his toned abs in red swim trunks.

He posted a series of photos on his Instagram where he was featured lounging on a yacht with his friends. Another picture showed Mendes staring into the camera, wearing a pair of black shorts with a green baseball cap.

In a recent Instagram post, Mendes shared that he was canceling all his tours to prioritize his mental and physical health.

"I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger," the singer wrote. "We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much-needed time off, but now I have to put my health as my priority."

While he expressed his regret for those who eagerly awaited his tours, he reassured fans that he would still make music and do music tours in the future.

"This doesn't mean I won't be making new music, and I can't wait to see you on tour in the future. I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this, but I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal," he concluded.

An insider recently shared with People that the singer has been getting the needed help.

"Shawn is a very sensitive and caring guy. When he gets frustrated with things around him, he turns inward and suffers. He said he is getting help, so that is admirable," they concluded.

Before this, Mendes told his fans in 2021 that he was having a "hard time with social media," explaining that people had been sending him videos and asking him what was happening.

He also thanked them for connecting deeply with his song "It'll Be Okay," which he released a few weeks after he and his ex-girlfriend Camilla Cabello called things off.

"I see a lot of TikToks of people crying and getting emotional and stuff, and I hope that's because there's some truth in the song 'It'll Be Okay,' and there lies honesty in it," Mendes continued.

He concluded, "I just feel so proud of that song, and I'm so grateful you guys are connecting with it, and I feel so grateful that people are being vulnerable with it and people are just having fun with it."

The Grammy award nominee will be lending his voice to play the titular character in "Lyle Lyle Crocodile."

The movie, which also stars Constance Wu, Javier Bardem, Scoot McNairy, and several others, is based on a popular children's book by Bernard Speck.

Although this will be the first time the singer will be in a cast ensemble, the musical aspect of the movie encouraged him to expand his career horizons.

"What was amazing was that Lyle as a character only sings, so I felt comfortable playing his character," Mendes shared, per People. "I was able to do what I do best, plus I relate to his story and his character so much it felt natural. When I was approached to help make the music for the adaptation of such a classic book, it was a no-brainer and just such a fun departure from what I am used to."
