Ayahuasca – also known as the tea, the vine, and la purga — is a brew made from the leaves of the Psychotria viridis shrub along with the stalks of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine, though other plants and ingredients can be added as well, per Healthline.

Ayahuasca ceremonies have become very popular among celebrities such as Chelsea Handler and Zac Efron.
The main ingredients of Ayahuasca — Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis — both have hallucinogenic properties.
Ayahuasca tea affects the central nervous system, leading to an altered state of consciousness that can include hallucinations, out-of-body experiences, and euphoria.
Rodgers is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and has been voted the most valuable player (MVP) the past two seasons in the NFL.
During a recent appearance on the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast,” Rodgers revealed his ayahuasca experience prior to his back-to-back MVP years.
Aaron Rodgers Discovered Unconditional Self-Love On Ayahuasca
In a video clip shared to his Instagram profile, the football star details how the hallucinogenic tea helped him discover self-love.
“To me, one of the core tenets to your mental health is that self-love. And that’s what ayahuasca did for me,” he explained. “[It] helped me see how to unconditionally love myself. And it’s only in that unconditional self-love that then I’m able to truly be able to unconditionally love others.”

This interview comes after his split from fiancée, Shailene Woodley.
The couple got engaged in February 2021, but officially called it quits this past June.
Rodgers continued to explain, “What better way to work on my mental health then to have an experience like that? I mean the best, the greatest gift I can give my teammates, in my opinion, is to be able to show up and to be someone who can model unconditional love to them.”
In this same interview, Rodgers made a rare statement about his relationship with former girlfriend and American racing star, Danica Patrick.
“I was dating Danica, and that relationship was great for me because she is on her own journey and spirituality is important to her,” he explained. “We both were finding our way, learning about different things [and] practicing meditation techniques.”

The former couple started dating in 2018 and were very public with their relationship. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the Daytona 500 in February ’18.
She attended the ESPYS in July of that same year where they packed on major PDA.
However, two years after their love story began, it came to an end in July 2020.
A rep for Patrick confirmed the split in a statement which read, “I can confirm that Danica and Aaron are no longer together.”
Not long after their split, Rodgers was dating “The Fault In Our Stars Actress.” By February 2021, Rodgers and Woodley were engaged.
