Holy Fvck, Demi Lovato is letting some cats out of the bag on her new album.
The singer, who recently announced that her new pronouns are she/her, is causing quite a stir online ahead of the release of her eighth-studio album, "Holy Fvck."
One song in particular has people talking and theorizing she may have thrown some serious shade at an ex-boyfriend.
Demi Throws Serious Shade At An Ex-Boyfriend
The boyfriend in question is none other than “That ‘70s Show” star, Wilmer Valderrama.
A snippet of her new song, “29,” has taken over TikTok, and the poignant lyrics hint at her relationship with Valderrama.
Demi and Valderrama were Hollywood Sweethearts from 2010-2016. Demi was 17 and he was 29. They had a 12-year age gap.
The relationship was on-and-off throughout the six years; however, the two remained on good terms following their split.
All Lyrics Point To Wilmer Valderrama
He even made an appearance in her first YouTube documentary, “Simply Complicated.”
Valderrama attended a Pride party Demi was hosting at her house. During a confessional, she admitted that she was still in love with him.
“I’ve never loved anybody like I’ve loved Wilmer. And like, I still love Wilmer,” she said.
Then in her 2020 music video for “I Love Me,” a man who looked eerily similar to Valderrama, makes a cameo alongside a bride that isn’t Demi.
Valderrama proposed to Amanda Pacheco in January 2020. The couple welcomed a baby girl in February 2021.
Fast forward to 2022 and Demi’s tune toward Valderrama and her music has completely changed.
On “29” she sings about a controversial relationship.
Demi Takes A Dig At Ex For 12-Year Age Gap
A portion of the lyrics go “Fibre on the vine / too young to drink wine / Just five years of bleeders, student and a teacher / Far from innocent / what the f**k’s consent? / Numbers told you not to / but that didn’t stop you.”
She goes on to sing, “Finally 29 / Funny, just like you were you at the time.”
Demi is 29-years-old, about to be 30 on August 19th. As previously mentioned, Valderrama was 29 when he began dating Demi in 2010.
Demi doubles down on the numbers singing, “Thought it was a teenage dream / just a fantasy / But was it yours or was it mine? 17, 29 / Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh / 17, 29.”
While she doesn’t outright name her ex-boyfriend, the numbers, math and circumstances of the lyrics definitely point towards the actor.
To Valderrama’s defense, Demi did admit he didn’t want to talk to her when she was 17.
In a previous interview with Complex, the singer explained how they met.
“We shot a PSA together for the 2010 Census forms for Voto Latino,” she explained. “We shot them at his house, so we actually met there. Of course, I was like, ‘Oh my god. You’re so attractive.’ And he was like, ‘You are not 18. Get away from me.’”
Demi went on to tell the outlet, “Then we became really good friends, and he was there for me through a number of situations and breakups and whatever. Then as I got older and we grew closer, it was like, ‘Hey, maybe we should try this thing out.’ We did, and we’ve basically been together ever since.’”
Fans were of course all about the speculation.
“She really put him on blast huh,” one person commented.
“YES good for them to speak their truth,” another praised.
One wrote, “This song needed to be made years ago so proud of Demi I always was thinking that relationship was weird.”
