Billionaire Elon Musk has been pretty vocal about his dislike for his father, Errol Musk, and it seems that the feeling is mutual.
In a 20-minute interview on Australia's "The Kyle and Jackie O Show," Errol said that he's not proud of his son for becoming the world's richest man because the whole Musk family has done "a lot of things for a long time." If anything, Errol seemed to prefer Elon's younger brother, Kimbal, calling him his "pride and joy."
Errol Musk Says He's Not Proud Of Elon Musk, But Calls Kimbal His 'Pride and Joy'
In the interview, transcribed by Business Insider, Errol, 76, was asked whether or not he was proud of his son Elon.
"No, well, you know, I mean, we are a family that has been doing a lot of things for a long time," the South African engineer replied. "It's not as though we suddenly started doing something."
Errol went on to say that he brought three of his kids, Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca, on exotic trips around the world with him since they were little, including the Amazon rainforest and China.
"They've seen a lot of things, and we've done a lot of things together," he said, admitting, "But Elon has in fact sort of really surpassed the mark."
Errol Musk Claims His Son Is Frustrated With His Companies
That being said, Errol went on to say that Elon is "not as happy as he'd like to be" because he "feels like he's behind schedule" with various companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
"Where he is now, he would have liked to have been there five years ago," Errol claimed, adding that Elon wanted to launch SpaceX's massive Starship spacecraft a long time ago.
"He is frustrated with progress," Errol alleged.
Musk Patriarch Seems To Prefer Kimbal To Elon Musk
Although Errol gave conflicting statements about Elon, he wasn't shy about calling Elon's younger brother Kimbal his "pride and joy."
Although Errol claimed that Kimbal is also a billionaire, a 2021 Forbes article put his net worth at around $700 million. Meanwhile, the Bloomberg Billionaire Index estimates that Elon Musk is worth approximately $260 billion.
Errol also praised Kimbal's marriage to Christiana Wyly and expressed concern about Elon's love life, saying that Elon won't have an easy time finding a partner who will sacrifice her career to meet his needs.
"He has to find a woman to give up what she's doing, and that's not easy," Errol said.
Elon Musk has been married three times. He was married to his first wife, Justine Wilson, from 2000 to 2008. He was married to Talulah Riley twice. He's also had a string of high-profile relationships with "Aquaman" actress Amber Heard and Canadian pop star Grimes. Musk also welcomed twins with one of his top Neuralink executives last month.
Errol Musk Has Been Generating Plenty Of Controversy On His Own
Although Elon has been generating plenty of scandalous headlines from his legal drama with Twitter to his alleged affair with Google co-founder Sergey Brin's estranged wife, Errol Musk has been involved in some pretty eyebrow-raising headlines of his own.
In mid-June, Errol, 76, revealed in an interview with The Sun that he had welcomed a second love child with his stepdaughter, 35, in 2019. Errol is not her father by birth but has raised the girl since she was only 4 years old. Shortly after that news broke, Errol revealed that a company in Colombia is asking him to donate his sperm to several South American women.
As Errol told The Sun, “I’ve got a company who wants me to donate sperm to impregnate high-class women.” He added, “They say, ‘Why go to Elon when they can go to the actual person who created Elon?’”
Although Elon has famously fathered at least ten children, several via surrogate, his father has had at least seven children with three different women. Errol told the publication that he believes “the only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce.”
So when he was asked to donate his sperm for some nice benefits, Errol’s response was, “Why not?” Errol didn’t name the company, although he did say that “They have offered me first-class travel and five-star hotel accommodation and all that sort of stuff.”
