Shakira Could Spend 3,000 DAYS Behind Bars For Tax Fraud!

The singer’s checks and balances are reportedly not balancing out for the Spanish government.
According to reports, the Spanish authorities have accused the singer of tax fraud in Spain from 2012 to 2014. The Colombian-native is accused of not paying specific taxes worth about $15 million.
Shakira Is Being Accused Of Multi-Million Dollar Tax Fraud
Specifically, she’s accused of committing six cases of tax fraud, and prosecutors want her to serve A LOT of time behind bars. According to reports, the “Bad Liar” singer could face up to 2,920 days or eight years in prison if found guilty.
Prosecutors are also wanting to hit her with a hefty fine of $23.5 million, according to Spanish news outlet El País. Shakira’s tax fraud case will be handled by a court in the vicinity of Barcelona where she’s lived for over a decade with her former ex-partner, Gerard Piqué.
The singer has plans to move to Miami with her two young children for work, but this court case could totally derail those plans.
Shakira's Move To Miami Away From Cheating Ex Could Be A No-Go!
Last May, Shakira and her legal team lost an appeal to have the case thrown out. The Spanish judicial ministry followed it up with a plea deal, which the songstress rejected.
The plea deal would’ve kept the case out court.
Shakira accused the prosecution of being “uncompromising” and applying “improper methods” aimed to make her accept the deal.
Given her unwillingness to accept what the court has to offer, prosecutors are now trying to make her learn her lesson behind bars.
Shakira Claims Her Innocence In Tax Fraud Case!
On Friday, July 29, Spanish prosecutors said if a jury convicts Shakira for gipping the government of nearly $15 million in taxes, they will ask a judge give her eight-years and two-months behind bars.
A rep for the singer told People, “Shakira has always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer, and faithfully following the counsel of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, a prestigious and globally recognized tax firm.”
Their statement continued, “Unfortunately, the Spanish Tax Office, which loses one out of every two lawsuits with its taxpayers, continues to violate her rights and pursue yet another baseless case. Shakira is confident that her innocence will be proven by the end of the judicial process.”
Shakiar’s reps claim she has paid everything she owes in taxes plus $3 million in interest.
Unfortunetly, this is another recent headache for Shakira. She recently went through disastrous breakup from her partner of 12 years after she found him in bed with another woman.In fact, Piqué had reportedly been cheating on Shakira since they got together. She threatened to expose his dirty secrets if he didn’t allow her to take their two children to Miami, Florida.
Shakira’s threats must’ve resonated with the Barcelona defender because he’s playing nice now.
Gerard Piqué Is Playing In Shakira's Favor
According to Spanish news outlet Marca, the fútbol star is seeking “peace” with Shakira.
He’s now in agreement with the singer to allow her to take Milan (9) and Sasha (7) to live in Miami.
Piqué allegedly sent a sweet message to his ex which Marca obtained.
“I wish you the best. The important thing is the happiness and welfare of our children," the alleged message read.
A trial date for the case is not yet set.
