Stand-up comic Jo Koy recently gave his fans an unexpected but incredible musical performance.
He and his fellow comedian, Chelsea Handler, recently called things off after being together for almost a year. Despite their breakup, the duo is reportedly still on good terms.
Koy recently spoke about his experiences growing up as a Filipino immigrant in America and the struggles his mother encountered. The 55-year-old also recalled an instance when a child was casually racist to them.
The comedian recently showed his fans his melodic side when he performed some R&B songs from the '90s. He also called up an old friend from the crowd who helped him give an impressive performance.
Jo Koy Sang In His Comedy Show
Koy gave his fans an impromptu music show in the middle of his "Rise for Comedy" event on Tuesday. The show occurred at Rideback Ranch in Los Angeles, and the comedian told the crowd about his fondest memories of the '90s R&B era. He then went on to belt out the lyrics of several of them.
The 55-year-old sang "Back at One" by Brian McKnight and then brought a partner along for "On Bended Knee" by Boyz II Men. He told the DJ, "I don't know the words, I don't know how to sing, but one of my favorite songs was by Boyz II Men — do you have any Boyz II Men? "

The hit song started playing, and Koy called up one of his "best friends," Wanya Morris. The 48-year-old took the stage and sang the Grammy-winning song. He then gave an acapella performance of "I'll Make Love to You." The performance garnered a standing ovation from the celebrity-speckled audience.
Jo Koy And Chelsea Handler Split
A week before Koy's show and performance, the comedian and his longtime friend turned girlfriend split up. The duo dated almost a year after forging a friendship in the early 2000s.
Handler made the breakup announcement on her Instagram by posting the video the former couple wanted to use for their first anniversary. The post was captioned, "It is with a heavy heart to announce that we have decided together that it is best for us to take a break from our relationship right now."
The 47-year-old added that her relationship with the comedian changed her life experience and renewed her faith in men. "To be loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. He renewed my faith in men, in love, in being 100% who I am, and I've never been more optimistic for the future," she concluded.
Jo Koy And Chelsea Handler Are On Good Terms
Despite their public announcement, a source told PeopleMagazine that the duo's friends still thought they could work it out and get back together. They said, "Their friends are hoping they can still work it out. But if anything, it's clear their relationship has changed them both for the better."
Koy also revealed that they were both still on good terms despite their break. He explained that they were friends before and that would not change now. The 55-year-old told TMZ, "Everything's good. We're taking a break. We're great friends; we've always been great friends. The love is still there."
The comedian was also asked if they still kept in contact with each other and affirmed that they did, and it was "all love." He, however, refused to specify who ended things between them.

Koy got a bit serious in one of his comedic performances and shed light on some of his challenging moments while going up. On Tuesday, the 55-year-old was at the "Joy Koy's Rise for Comedy Night brought to you by Easter Sunday" event.
He mentioned how his mother got into the US and struggled to find people like her and where to fit in. He revealed that while she felt safe in a church because "everyone believes in Jesus," when she left, it was a different issue. Koy said, unlike how it is now, at the time, she had to "physically find her friends."
The stand-up comic also recalled a time in 1985 when a young child pulled a racist gesture at his mother and expressed his frustration concerning why things like that were normalized.
Koy recalled, "The kid turns around and pulls his eyes back and [giggles]. I [didn't] know, the giggle was because ... I [didn't] understand that type of normalization. Why would that be funny?"
