It’s been 502 days since his death, and Meghan McCain still misses her father, John McCain, more than ever. “The View” co-host shared an Instagram post of the two together with a touching caption about her grief.
“502 days. Every time I think I can’t miss you more… as you always used to say Illegitimi non carborundum. I would cut off one of my limbs to talk to you again for 5 minutes,” she wrote. “I carry your heart in my heart and your fire in my veins. Grief is such a relentless bitch. The strain of the daily albatross of carrying it around never lightens, we all just adapt and become skilled at hiding it. F–k glioblastoma.”
Congresswoman and Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard commented, “It is a bond like none other, and that lasts forever. Sending you love!”
“Meghan – I was always for your dad! I got to shake his hand at an event in Chicago in 2008 -you can imagine – and I was enthralled and told him I never gave up on him and he looked up at my name tag and said you were smarter than the rest Debra. And I may never be so glad anyone else said my name,” one person shared.
“I’ve learned so much about grief watching your grace. Lost my husband a year ago,” another wrote.
Last August, she shared a message on Twitter to make the one year anniversary of his passing.
“Last year tomorrow, August 25th was the worst day of my life. I lost my hero. I miss my father every single day, I will for the rest of my life. Grief is omnipresent and relentless. For every single person who has sent prayers, love & support to my family, we are truly grateful,” she wrote.
In her most recent post, she took time to thank her “The View” co-host, Abby Huntsman, who is going to work on her father’s campaign in Utah.
“Wishing my amazing friend and co-host @HuntsmanAbby nothing but the best on her next chapter! @theviewabc is less without you and your light. I wish you, your family, & your father #JonHuntsman’s campaign all the absolute best. He’s lucky to have you officially lead his team!” McCain wrote.
