Whatever may be happening in Britney Spears's personal life, and on her Instagram, including the ever-increasing nude shots, the courts seem to be with her. In another twist to the 13-year conservatorship tale, the pop star's father's legal team and her own legal counsel are still battling over the costs of the legal battle and other things. Jamie Spears decided that his daughter needed to be deposed for the same but the courts think differently...

It seems Britney is finally having a lucky streak in her life, and the judges seem to find it all in her favor.

For those who need a quick recap, after a series of rather public breakdowns, Spears was put under a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008 by her father, Jamie Spears. He acted as her sole conservator for most of the 13 years, despite Britney's repeated attempts to break free of the bonds and take control of her life back. After more than a decade of a legal battle, Spears’ father was finally suspended by the court in September 2021. Later, the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021 and since then, Britney has not only changed her life but also her name, in that she is now Mrs. Sam Asghari.

That said, her father is not quite ready to let go of things that easy, as he requested Britney be deposed as a witness to further prove his case. In December, Jamie had requested that Britney's estate pay his legal team, given the "ongoing fiduciary duties relating to the winding up of the Conservatorship of the Person and Estate."

The Growing Troubles Of Jamie Spears

Spears and her legal team have accused her father of mismanaging her estate under the guise of conservatorship for his financial gain, focusing more on himself than her well-being. Jamie has claimed that he has done no wrongdoing, and has also used the argument that whatever he did was court-approved all through the way.

There have been more accusations though, first coming to light via a documentary by the New York Times, where it was said that Jamie Spears hired a security team to run surveillance on his daughter. Further accusations were leveled against him as well, over bugging her room and monitoring her calls. Spears has voiced the same on her Instagram account plenty of times, accusing her security team of literally keeping her a prisoner

Jamie Spears has denied it all even though Britney's legal team has also filed documents alleging her own management was hired by her father to facilitate the conservatorship. The paper's name Tri Star Sports and Entertainment, though the management firm has denied any role in the same.

On Wednesday, at the hearing, Judge Penny, issued a tentative ruling that Tri Star officials may also be deposed, in addition to Jamie Spears. The order for Jamie Spears' deposition came earlier this month, and at the time, Judge Penny said that she needed more time to decide if Britney needed to be deposed, or not.

At the time, Britney Spears’ lawyer, Mathew Rosengart stated, "This is another major victory for Britney Spears. After her father has run and hid for nine months, he has now been ordered to be deposed shortly and to produce all documents, as required by law."

Britney Spears Will Not Be Deposed

While Jamie Spears wanted Britney to give a deposition, Judge Brenda Penny ruled on Wednesday that such a deposition is not likely to produce any information relevant to the remaining issues in the case.

Meanwhile, Rosengart also stated that any such deposition would "retraumatize" her and that she would not be appearing as a witness in any of the proceedings.

In a statement, he also said, "We are very pleased, but not surprised, that Judge Penny reconfirmed her thoughtful and legally correct ruling, once again rejecting Mr. Spears's shameful and desperate effort to take his own daughter's deposition. Any decent man, especially father, would accept his losses and simply move on."
