Nicole Shanahanis now responding to allegations that she had an affair with billionaire Elon Musk that led to an end to her marriage.

The bombshell report was published by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday. According to the article, the Tesla CEO was the reason that Google co-founder Sergey Brin asked for a divorce from his wife, Nicole Shanahan, in January.

Sources told the publication that the SpaceX founder had a "brief" affair with Shanahan late last year, which later led to Musk dropping down to one knee - in public - to apologize to Brin.

However, Shanahan is dismissing the allegations as an "outright lie."

Nicole Shanahan Slams The Wall Street Journal Report As An 'Outright Lie'

As Page Six reported, Sergey Brin's estranged wife called the Wall Street Journal article an "outright lie." In a statement made through her attorney, Bryan Freedman, Shanahan suggested that the report might even rise to the level of defamation.

“Make no mistake, any suggestion that Nicole had an affair with Elon Musk is not only an outright lie but also defamatory,” Shanahan’s lawyer said on Wednesday morning.

Musk has gone through great lengths to negate the rumors that he had hurt his longtime friend, who had helped him out of Tesla's financial crisis during the economic downturn in 2008 with $500,000 dollars of support.

Tesla investor Dave Lee commented, “Wow then the @wsj journal just ran the craziest hit piece ever. Shameless.”

"WSJ has run so many bs hit pieces on me and Tesla I’ve lost count! It’s embarrassing for them, frankly," he wrote. "They once wrote an article saying FBI was about to arrest me, so I called FBI to ask what’s up and they said WSJ article was total bs. Just more shortseller fud."

Musk Warned That The 'Attacks' Against Him Would Escalate In May

Many are calling into question a tweet Elon Musk made on May 18, when he warned that "Political attacks on me will escalate dramatically in coming months" after he revealed that he now politically identifies as a Republican.

"You said these attacks against you would escalate and you were right," one user commented.

Musk agreed, stating, "Yeah, the character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans. None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!"

However, it seems that even Musk might be growing tired of his own drama. On Monday night, he tweeted,  "The amount of attention on me has gone supernova, which super sucks. Unfortunately, even trivial articles about me generate a lot of clicks. Will try my best to be heads down focused on doing useful things for civilization."
