Paul leaves behind his wife, his three children, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, Amanda Sorvino, Michael Sorvino, and five grandchildren. Mira, who won an Academy Award for her role in Woody Allen’s “Mighty Aphrodite,” had previously accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.
Paul Sorvino Once Threatened Harvey Weinstein: ‘I Will Kill The Motherf—er’
“If I meet [Weinstein] on the street — he oughta hope that he goes to jail, because if we come across, I think he’ll be lying on the floor, somehow, magically,” Paul Sorvino said at the time.
Sorvino later added, “He’s going to go to jail. Oh yeah. That son of a b—-. Good for him if he goes, because if not, he has to meet me. And I will kill the motherf—er. Real simple.”
Mira Sorvino Claims That Harvey Weinstein ‘Tried To Get Physical’ With Her
Last fall, the “Shining Vale” actress told the New Yorker that Harvey Weinstein tried to behave inappropriately with her in a Toronto hotel room in 1995, around the time of her award-winning movie.
“He started massaging my shoulders, which made me very uncomfortable and then tried to get more physical, sort of chasing me around,” Mira claimed.
In December 2017, director Peter Jackson alleged that Harvey and his brother, Bob Weinstein, tried to blacklist her by calling her “a nightmare” to work with. Director Terry Zwigoff supported Jackson’s claims, adding that the Weinstein brothers would hang up the phone if he ever mentioned her name.
Representatives for Harvey Weinstein sent a statement to EW, saying:
“Mr. Weinstein has nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson. However, as Mr. Jackson will probably remember, because Disney would not finance the Lord of the Rings, Miramax lost the project and all casting was done by New Line. While Bob and Harvey Weinstein were executive producers of the film they had no input into the casting whatsoever.”
Mira has been married to “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Sons of Anarchy” actor Christopher Backus since 2004. The statement continued to say that Mira and Weinstein were on good terms, asking him directly to cast her husband in a project.
“As recently as this year, Mira Sorvino called Mr. Weinstein and asked if her husband could be part of the SEAL television series [Six] he was producing and Mr. Weinstein cast him; when Christopher Backus received a better offer, Mr. Weinstein allowed him to amicably break his contract to pursue the opportunity.”
However, Mira is not the first woman to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Dozens of women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct.
When he spoke to TMZ, the late Paul Sorvino said that he had been totally unaware of the claims that his daughter made against Weinstein until she spoke publicly. He also said that he had no idea that Weinstein had been trying to derail her acting career.
He said that he was “furious” to learn the news, adding, “If I had known it, he would not be walking. He’d be in a wheelchair.”
When asked if he was proud of his daughter for speaking out about the allegations, Sorvino replied, “My daughter’s … a courageous and a wonderful human being, and doesn’t deserve to have been treated that way by this pig.”
“This pig will get his comeuppance,” Sorvino added. “The law will get him. He’s going to go to jail and die in jail.”
