Model Olivia Culpo is joining the likes of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber to endorse NAD IV Therapy.
While most would balk at the thought of spending hundreds of dollars to let someone stick a needle in your arm, plenty of celebrities are touting the anecdotal benefits.
Olivia Culpo Joins Kendall Jenner & Hailey Bieber Promoting NAD IV Therapy
According to ELLE, NAD, which stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme that is naturally produced by the body to help cells produce energy. It’s considered to be an anti-aging molecule and reportedly has a role in overall health. Although it can be taken orally as a tablet, receiving it intravenously is said to increase its bioavailability, meaning that the body will absorb the highest amount possible into the bloodstream.
In addition to NAD, it’s possible that there may be other vitamins and minerals injected into the person, depending on the needs of the patient. The treatment is said to offer a plethora of benefits, from boosting energy, to achieving healthy skin and hair and boosting recovery time.
In episode five of the Hulu series “The Kardashians,” Kendall and Hailey actually meet up to get an IV drip (via ELLE). Kendall tells the camera, “Things like this, they comfort me. They help because it makes me happy and I don’t want anyone to judge me.”
After she was diagnosed with COVID-19, she claims that NAD IV Therapy helped her mental recovery, as she had been “eating myself alive thinking about my health.” The two friends sat down on a couch as two medical professionals inserted needles into their arms. The needles were hooked up to bags containing vitamins and minerals.
During the treatment, Hailey joked, “I’m going to NAD for the rest of my life and I’m never going to age.”
Science is still out as to whether or not NAD IV Therapy actually has any health benefits. Medical researchers have stated that there is a lack of clinical research to support the notion that NAD IV Therapy can have life-altering health benefits.
But celebrities seem eager to plop down hundreds of dollars for the treatment, and it seems that now model Olivia Culpo is joining them.
Olivia Culpo Touts The Benefits Of NAD IV Therapy
On Monday, Miss Rhode Island 2012 took to her Instagram Stories to promote Reset IV, which is available in only a few states, like California, Virginia, Maryland, and Texas.
"@reset_iv getting me ready for a long week!!!!" Olivia captioned the snap, which shows her lying on a couch with her arm propped up on a pillow and connected to an IV while her puppy lies on the couch just behind her head.
For those who don't like to go to the doctor for a blood draw, it seems that most people would be squeamish to undergo such a procedure, even from within the comfort of their own home.
The time for each procedure seems to vary from person to person, but Olivia posted an update showing her lying on the couch with an IV still hooked up to her arm. "Still here," she captioned the snap, along with a waving hand emoji.
In a separate slide, she wrote, "This is why I do it! Amazing health benefits." It should again be noted that these health benefits are not scientifically proven.
The chart claims that there are five main health benefits of NAD IV Therapy, the first of which is increased energy levels, stating the NAD “assists in the conversation of nutrients into energy.”
It also claims that it can “preserve your brain’s function by aiding brain cell’s regeneration and protect against damage.” The graphic also claims that NAD IV Therapy can facilitate weight management by enhancing your metabolism to help your body burn more calories, although it does not state how.
It also claims that it can aid in “skeletal muscle development and regeneration” and even delay the process, claiming to “slow or even reverse the effects of aging.”
While it would be nice to believe there was a magic pill - or needle - to provide all these health benefits, it's always best to speak to a doctor before beginning any kind of health treatment.
