Jeffree Star is getting real with fans in an emotional video sharing that he and his longtime boyfriend, Nathan Schwandt, broke up "weeks ago." The YouTube sensation apologized for being quiet on social media lately but he's been struggling getting used to life without Nathan after being together for 5 years. In a video Jeffree Star posted to YouTube on Saturday titled "We Broke Up," the makeup mogul got choked up while describing how "devastated" and "so sad" he is over their split.

“I never thought the day would come where I'd be sitting here talking about this," he began. Revealing they've tried to film this video about 10 times, Jeffree Star said they've been unsuccessful because "I've cried every single time." Announcing the breakup, he continued, "We are a few weeks of me and Nathan no longer being together." Telling his fans he owes them an explanation because "Nathan and I have grown with each other in front of all of you and I can’t believe he’s not here right now. But I do want to share what’s been going on."

Although they have broken up, Jeffree Star still has love for Nathan. “I’m grateful for him, and I’ll be grateful until the day I die, because this was the only man that was ever confident enough to love me publicly, to love me for me fully, all my flaws, no makeup waking up in bed to full-on — he never cared about any of it, he just loved me for me,” he told his followers in between sighs and long pauses.
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics founder also made it clear that there was no “crazy” drama for the split but the emotional toll of losing two of their dogs last year, as well as the demanding lifestyle of their industry, didn't help their relationship or mental states. We haven’t processed our dogs fully because this lifestyle is so crazy and we’re always on to the next thing,” he explained. “We were both so busy being there for each other that we forgot to be here for ourselves, and that’s what 2020 is — focusing on ourselves.”
