It's no secret that if you are the man on Selena Gomez's arm, you're likely somebody special yourself. After all, the singer has dated big names like Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber, Zedd and The Weeknd.
However, Selena Gomez opened up to Zane Lowe in an interview on Apple Music, explaining her decision to date famous men isn't for clout.
"You're wanting someone to understand what you're going through. You're almost wanting a counterpart of creativity as well, and it's interesting and fun," Gomez said in the interview.
While the lucky men in her life shouldn't steal credit for her success, Selena has seen many highs in her career while linked to her famous beaus.

Selena Gomez has been dating famous men for over a decade. Back in 2008, she was linked to Nick Jonas from "The Jonas Brothers" until around 2010.
At the time, both artists were extremely popular on the Disney channel so it's easy to understand why they connected and understood each other.
While Selena tasted a bit of fame in her childhood, acting on the show "Barney and Friends" from 2002 to 2004, it wasn't until 2007 when she got her big break as the lead actress on "Wizards of Waverly Place."
Also at the time, Selena was testing the waters as a film actress, acting in movies like "Another Cinderella Story" and "Ramona and Beezus."

After calling it quits with Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez wasted little time moving on to Justin Bieber, who she officially dated from 2010 to 2013. The couple was also rumored to be reconciled in 2017. However, Biebs moved on with now-wife Hailey Baldwin.
While the relationship between the two was rocky at best, Selena likely includes Justin in her "counterpart of creativity" statement because it was while dating him that she switched up her image from innocent to intimidating.
During this time, she started cultivating in interest in creating pop music apart from childish songs she sang for Disney and she found more mature roles, acting in movies like "Springbreakers" and "The Getaway."

After her split with Bieber, Selena moved on with another musician in 2015, linking up with EDM producer Zedd.
Zedd helped Selena release her most successful album "Revival," which he produced. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts.
During their relationship, Selena was inspired and made more of a name for herself as a singer.
In their song, "I Want You to Know," Selena likely references their relationship saying they "bleed the same light."
Unfortunately, after their breakup, Zedd shared with Billboard that dating Selena came with too much media attention for him and his family.

While Selena only dated The Weeknd for 10 months in 2017, the "Starboy" singer got to see Selena at the latest height of her career.
In 2017, Selena was recognized as Billboard Woman of the Year and received several nominations and awards for her songs "Hands to Myself" and "We Don't Talk Anymore."
Unlike most of her other relationships, Selena and The Weeknd seemed to end their passionate tryst as friends.
In an interview with Billboard in 2017 she spoke about The Weeknd saying, "Something that I'm really proud of is that there's such a true friendship. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring, and that was pretty remarkable for me."
However, many fans have been speculating her new album "Rare" references the not-so-nice parts of their relationship and how her feelings may have changed.
