TikTok Made Me Buy It!

The pink sauce in question is simply called, "Pink Sauce." It's made and sold by TikTok creator Chef.pii, a personal chef in Florida, who is in the center of a big controversy about her homemade product. And while many people are questioning the legality of her selling a homemade sauce, the ingredients in the sauce, the discrepancies in the label information, and how it's being shipping unrefrigerated, the TikToker, 29, is standing tall and remains proud of her product, claiming she's made some mistakes along the way.

The next video she posted showed the same pink sauce, chicken tenders and ramen. The comments were all focused on the color of the sauce and how it's changed over the course of the videos. "Wow it’s so bright here. Really can see how it’s been fading coming to watch an older video," "The color and texture and consistency has changed DRASTICALLY," "This look like a whole different sauce in this video," were some of the newer comments. As time went on, the color and texture of the sauce has changed and people have definitely taken note.

So Just What's In This Sauce?

According to the website where you can purchase a bottle, these are the sauce's ingredients - water, sunflower seed oil, raw honey, distilled vinegar, garlic, pitaya, pink Himalayan salt, dried spices, lemon juice, milk and citric acid. Many red flags were raised when tons of her TikTok followers have noticed that "vinegar" was spelled "vinger" on the label, and that the nutritional value and serving size numbers don't add up. A slew of videos discussing all the red flags started to flood the social media channel.

Let the Critiquing Begin...

There are many questions circulating with TikTok users pointing out the many inconsistencies with the nutritional label. According to the label, the bottle contains 444 servings, and many have pointed out that cannot be accurate. Many questioned the fact that milk is listed as one of the ingredients on the label, so why is it being shipped without any form of refrigeration in the dead heat of summer? And the fact that the consistency and color of the sauce seems to change from video to video, people are rightfully concerned.

TikToker, jptheworst posted a video explaining all the things he found as a problem with people buying and consuming this product. He explained why he feels the ingredient list is leaving off something major, as well as other red flags he's concerned with.

Chef Pii posted an apology video, "acknowledging the elephant in the room" and apologizing for some of the issues. "We have a team. Things happen. The grams got mixed up with the serving size. There's 444 grams of Pink Sauce inside of each container. It's about 30 servings per container. It was a mistake. We fixed the issue. You guys will not be receiving Pink Sauce bottles with the bad labels," she explained. She went on to explain that she's got a small business and it's moving really fast. She also said she is following FDA standards and the product is currently in lab testing. "So once we go through lab testing, we will be able to pitch to stores to put the Pink Sauce in stores, and we're so excited about that," she explained.

"We're Coming Back From It"

In a recent interview with the Washington Post, Chef Pii defended her product saying it's legal and safe, and that it's being made in a facility certified by the Food and Drug Administration. "I've been using it and serving it to my clients for a year - no one has ever gotten sick," she said. Despite all the negative talk circulating on TikTok, Chef Pii expects to continue selling her sauce successfully. She told NBC News, "I love my product. People love my product. I made a few mistakes. We're coming back from it and we're going to grow from there."
