Hailey Bieber Scores HUGE Legal Win In Rhode Copyright Lawsuit

Model Hailey Bieber has been making headlines for her new skincare line, Rhode.

Last month, an 8-year-old clothing company in New York, also named Rhode, filed a lawsuit claiming that the 25-year-old model was stealing their trademark. Rhode has personal meaning for Hailey, given that it is her middle name.

Although the clothing brand claimed that she was infringing on their trademark, a judge recently ruled in Hailey's favor in gave her permission to use her middle name as the name of her new skincare company.

Hailey seems to have been pretty confident that a judge was going to rule in her favor, as she appeared on Good Morning America earlier this year to promote her Rhode skincare line and has gotten several other celebrities to endorse it.

On Friday, July 22, TMZ reported that a judge dismissed the Rhode clothing company's claim that Hailey was infringing on their trademark. Rhode NYC had filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Hailey to stop her new business venture, but Hailey successfully argued that, since their company dealt in clothes, and her company only sold skincare products, there would be no confusion for the public.

A judge agreed with Hailey and denied Rhode NYC's motion for a preliminary injunction. Hailey had actually made a "the making of rhode" documentary, which is a 20-minute video showing how she started her brand over the course of several years. Her lawyers submitted the video to the court. Rhode NYC tried to block the release of the video, but a judge shot that down too.

Although the clothing company can still argue that Hailey is causing market confusion, it is still a big legal win for Hailey Bieber, given that her brand is now up and running.

If fans want to see "the making of rhode" documentary that Hailey Bieber submitted to the court, they're in luck! After the judge ruled in her favor, the Victoria's Secret model took to Instagram to reveal that her approximately twenty-minute documentary was now available to watch on YouTube.

"The Making Of @rhode is now live on my YouTube channel," she wrote in the caption. "Really wanted to let everyone in on the process of the last 2.5 years. I really hope you enjoy watching this journey and thank you for being on the journey with me! It’s been a beautiful one, and it’s just getting started."

It's possible that Hailey Bieber will have to face more legal battles down the line, but she seems to be enjoying this legal victory while she can!
