'Jeopardy!' Fans Remember Late Host Alex Trebek On His Birthday

On Friday, July 22, “Jeopardy!” fans remembered late host Alex Trebek on his birthday.
Born on July 22, 1940, in Greater Sudbury, Canada, George Alexander Trebek was best known for hosting “Jeopardy!” for 37 seasons, starting with its revival in 1984 and up until his death of pancreatic cancer on November 8, 2020. He left behind his wife, Jean, and three children: Matthew, Nicky, and Emily.
On Friday, many fans took to social media to remember the late host on what should have been his 82nd birthday.

One fan tweeted, "Happy heavenly 82nd birthday to the longtime host of @jeopardy, Alex Trebek. We still miss you on this day, Alex.#RIPAlexTrebek." They included several photos of Alex throughout his time as host, including a photo with current host, Ken Jennings, who became a household name when he won 74 games in a row in 2004, which is still the number one win streak.

Another fan posted a short clip on Alex Trebek, a known hockey lover, becoming disappointed in a fan who got the answer wrong. Fans used to love the way Alex would reply "Oh no" when a contestant was way off track with an answer!

Good Morning America also paid tribute to the late host with some of Alex's most hilarious moments on the game show in a 90-second clip. However, the end of the video quickly turned a bit emotional... be warned! You may need tissues!
Although Alex Trebek may be gone, "Jeopardy!" has renamed the iconic stage "The Alex Trebek Stage" so that his impact on the game show he loved so much will never be forgotten.
