R. Kelly is in prison but he still has a message to fans on his 53rd birthday. The controversial singer's social media has been updated with a video showing the Grammy winner celebrating his special day prior to being locked up on charges relating to abuse of minors and child porn. A video was shared on his Instagram by someone from his team on Wednesday and instead of questioning whether this is appropriate, his loyal fans are flocking to his comments wishing R. Kelly a very HBD.
In the video, R. Kelly jumps on the stage wearing a hoodie with his hat cocked to the side and holding a red cup in his hand. Grabbing the mic, he addressed the crowd who was clapping and cheering for the controversial superstar. "You guys are here with me right now and it's my birthday," he stated. "I been doing this for 30 years. I'm about to be 51 in a couple hours." He then serenaded himself by singing, "Happy Birthday to Me."

It's interesting timing for R. Kelly's team to upload such a happy video of the R&B singer considering "Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning" aired just days ago on Lifetime. In the episode, many of R. Kelly's accusers painfully spoke about the backlash sufferers face when coming out with allegations of abuse. They explored the devastating insults they encountered which included denial, threats, and the defeat of attempting to prove their stories. In the docuseries' second season, Lifetime spoke with R. Kelly's alleged victims, family, staffers, and industry insiders.
