Captain Canada initially appeared in Captain Newfoundland, a Canadian comic strip published in the Newfoundland Herald in 1979. In the comic, Captain Newfoundland served as Captain Canada's mentor, teaching him the ins and outs of becoming a hero.

Captain Newfoundland is an ancient extraterrestrial astronaut, one of the last survivors of a "godlike" species that once lived in the mythical city of Atlantis. Captain Canada, on the other hand, is a typical human named Daniel Eaton who was given a suit by Captain Newfoundland that endowed him with new supernatural physical and mental skills.

Eaton's thoughts guide the suit, but not all the suit's abilities were initially available to him. To gain the additional powers, he had to prove himself worthy. Ultimately, he demonstrates this mettle by rescuing individuals in need and becomes the guardian of Canada and the liberties it stands for.

Despite his expressed desire, Gosling playing Captain Canada appears to be a remote prospect. However, considering his acting abilities, one can't rule out the actor collaborating with Marvel in any other role among their collection of untapped superheroes.

Captain America and Captain Marvel are already out of the running, given that Marvel has well explored both roles. The former was portrayed by Chris Evans, while the latter is a feminine superhero played by Brie Larson, albeit Lashana Lynch made a cameo in the role in "Doctor Strange 2."

If Marvel and Gosling can agree for the actor to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, he would join the hallowed league of Hollywood stars who have taken up superpowered roles in the franchise. Recent additions include Angelina Jolie, Christian Bale, Angelina Jolie, Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, Owen Wilson, and Emilia Clarke.
