Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been married less than two years, and in that time, there's been plenty of commentary about all the things they can learn from Prince William and Kate Middleton, which make sense.

After all, William and Kate have been married for almost a decade, and they're also the parents to a number of children already. William and Kate likely had a lot of advice to impart on the newlyweds that were likely quite helpful as they adjusted.

To date, though, there's been much less discussion of what William and Kate might be able to learn from Meghan and Harry. Although William and Kate are older, the two couples are constantly learning from one another.

Obviously, William and Harry have known one another for their entire lives, and they've been learning from each other for just as long. Meghan and Kate, on the other hand, have known each other a fairly short amount of time by comparison.

One of the big lessons that William and Kate have learned is to exude some of the warmth that Harry and Meghan are known for. In particular, Meghan's willingness to speak to the press and be candid has rubbed off on Kate, who used to resist the prying eye of press photographers.

William and Kate have also made efforts to be seen as more normal people, which is something that they almost definitely learned from Harry and Meghan's public personas.

William and Kate have also had occasion to learn from Harry and Meghan's missteps. When a controversy arose after Harry and Meghan championed environmental friendliness while they took private jets, Prince William and Kate knew that moving forward, they would have to avoid flying privately.

Ultimately, having royal counterparts means that they burden of controversy can be more evenly distributed. Kate and William can make some mistakes, and Harry and Meghan can make others, and collectively they can learn from them.

Although the royal couples definitely learn a lot from one another, there are differences that come from their relative positions inside the royal family. William and Kate are preparing to be future kings and queens, whereas Harry and Meghan will never have to shoulder that responsibility.

So, while they can definitely figure some things out together, it isn't a one-to-one comparison. William and Kate may never get to be as informal as Meghan and Harry because of their relative position in the family.
