Hailie Jade Scott, daughter of rapper Eminem, opened up about her unique and what she calls, “surreal” childhood on the first episode of her new podcast “Just a Little Shady.” The 26-year-old discussed what it was like growing up with a famous father with her co-host and childhood best friend, Brittany Ednie, as well as many of their childhood memories together.
“It’s a Double Entendre”
The first episode of the podcast, named “It’s a Double Entendre,” started off with Scott discussing what she plans to talk about during the first and future episodes of the podcast, and then introduces her co-host. Ednie began her walk down memory lane discussing how the two met in elementary school back in second grade when they sat next to each other in class. “Her and I were very similar in a sense that we were both very shy as kids and we were very focused on our schoolwork and took that way too seriously for second graders, but more importantly, we thoroughly enjoyed snack time,” Ednie explained. “Still do. Still is the core of our friendship. We both had Cheez-Its for snacks at lunch and I really think that’s how we first bonded. And then from then on out I just remember being attached at the hip.”
The two friends continued talking about their childhoods together and talked about how some aspects of life seemed so normal to Scott but not to Ednie. Scott didn’t know that having a tour bus wasn’t an experience that every child had. “It’s so fun to look back…thinking back as an adult, I’m like, ‘Wow, that’s so, so surreal. And those memories of me thinking those were normal things, now I look back like, ‘Holy crap, that was cool,” she told Ednie. Knowing Scott most of her life, Ednie added, “I remember going on [the tour bus] and all our memories of being young were so cool and unique to look back at now. At the time, it felt so normal and not anything strange or different. We didn’t know any better.”

Disney Princess Days
Scott went on to reminisce about a trip to Disney that the two took as children. “I always like, think about that time. We went to Florida, my dad was working on something, and he set up for us to do, like, the limo and take it to Disney and we did the princess tea party, and he had the dresses waiting for us. And even then, at the time, we were so happy and so excited, but we didn’t get to appreciate that moment as much as now when we talk about it and think back on it.”
Middle school was drama-free for the two besties, and they discussed how Ednie became a social butterfly while Scott continued to take school very seriously and was a rule-follower. “I believed anything adults said,” Scott explained. “I definitely did take school way too seriously.” High school wasn’t any different, and the two remained friends throughout. Scott and Ednie continued the 26-minute episode podcast with more fun childhood stories.
