It was a very long travel day for "Selling Sunset" star Heather Rae El Moussa and her husband Tarek. The two spent much of the day in the airport, on and off planes, and after all that, their flight was canceled. It was eventful in every way from gate changes to Tarek being hailed a "hero" by his wife.
Taking their "Travel Armegeddon" Story to Instagram
Heather, 34, chronicled the day's events in her Instagram stories on Monday. Calling the experience, a "travel Armegeddon," the travel day story she shares with her followers span many hours, and we're all still waiting for the big story to be told. "I have a story for you. My husband did something very heroic when a man went crazy on our flight and verbally & physically got in a flight attendants' & pilots' face," she wrote on her story.
First, they were delayed two hours. "Security line was, like, two hours, getting on the plane there's an engine problem so there's another two-hour delay," she said. In another story she said, "I'm starving, I'm pregnant, I need my food." They had to deplane, so they went to an Asian-fusion restaurant in the airport to eat while they waited for another plane. After seven hours of waiting, switching gates multiple times, alarms blaring, Tarek explains, "It's mayhem here. There's alarms going off, there was a fistfight. Seven hours, you guys." In the next story he said, "Still haven't left yet. Nine hour delay now, another alarm. This is the travel day from hell, everybody, from hell." The next story showed what appeared to be some progress with the two on a plane. "We made the plane! Now we must board before the pilots time out hurry!!!" Heather wrote.
A Whole New Experience for the Couple
Heather explained while getting ready for some much needed rest in a bed in a hotel room that neither of them have ever experienced a canceled flight before. "Oh it's been a long day. What can go wrong will go wrong," Tarek said. Heather then said that her husband was a hero and she has a big story to tell tomorrow, because they were just too tired to at the moment. Tarek added, "We're gonna do this all over again tomorrow, wish us luck," he said.
They Just Announced They are Expecting
The couple just announced their pregnancy last week. While in the middle of in vitro fertilization treatments, they found out they were already pregnant. "It was a huge shock. We weren't expecting this. We had just gone through IVF," she told People. "We had embryos on ice. We had a plan. I think when you least expect it and there's no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be. I'm so excited that it happened like this."
The Journey from Bonus Mom to Mom
The couple met and began dating back in 2019. Tarek is dad to Taylor, 11, and Brayden, 6, with ex Christina Hall, and having kids of their own wasn't the focus because Heather said she was happy being what she called "a bonus mom." "When we first started dating three years ago, we went into our relationship not planning on having children together. I really love being a bonus mom to Taylor and Brayden. They're such incredible kids and I love them so much," she said. "But as your love grows more and more and you fall deeper in love with someone and you build this life together, I started picturing myself having a child with Tarek. I started thinking I just wanted to create something with the man that I'm in love with."
