Actor Blake Jenner, known for his role as Ryder Lynn in the popular Fox musical series “Glee,” was just charged for allegedly driving under the influence. Besides “Glee,” the actor’s other film credits include the portrayal of Adam Foster in “Supergirl” and Sean in “What/If.”

Before his recent brush with the law, the 29-year-old came under fire from the public for allegedly abusing his ex-wife, Melissa Benoist, while they were married. He eventually addressed the issue and, while apologizing for his past actions, revealed the abuse was mutual.

The 'Glee Curse'

The show has gotten quite a bad rep for the unfortunate fate of some of the actors that starred in it.

With the unfortunate passing of Cory Monteith in 2013 to drug and alcohol intoxication and the sad death of Naya Rivera in 2020, many fans now have a staunch belief that the "Glee Curse" is actually real.

Another star of the show, Mark Sailing, who played Puckerman, was also arrested for child pornography and convicted in 2015. He too also passed away after committing suicide.

With Jenner's recent DUI and past domestic abuse accusations made against him by his ex wife, some fans have gone to the extreme to insinuate that he might be the next target of the "Glee curse."

Jenner got his big break in the industry in 2012 after emerging as the victor in “The Glee Project” by Oxygen. The win earned him a spot in the cast of “Glee” in the popular musical’s fourth series. He came into the series in episode five, “The Role You Were Born To Play,” as a dyslexic football player named Ryder Lynn.

In the series, Ryder transferred to McKinley High as a sophomore and joined the football team. At some point, the character struggles with his grades and meets Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith, who recruits him for the school glee club, New Directions.

Jenner was nominated and won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Star and then got promoted to a series regular. The 29-year-old appeared in almost 40 episodes from when he first came into the show to the conclusion. He guest starred in the series finale, which aired in 2015.

Blake Jenner Was Accused Of Domestic Violence

Besides his DUI case with the law, Jenna was previously involved in an incident with his ex-wife and former “Glee” co-star, Melissa Benoist. The duo married in 2019 and finalized their divorce in 2017.

In November 2019, the “Supergirl” actress revealed that she was a survivor of domestic violence at the hands of an undisclosed person. In the emotional video posted on her Instagram page, the actress disclosed that she was previously a recipient of “intimate partner violence.”

The violence included a phone being thrown at her, which damaged her eyesight irreparably and caused other physical and mental trauma. While she didn’t expressly mention the name of her abuser, her story had several contextual clues that pointed to her ex-husband as the abuser.

Blake Jenner Admitted To The Abuse

Almost a year after the indirect accusation, Jenner gave an indirect apology. In October 2020, the actor shared a statement via his Instagram page. There he owned up to the actions and, at the same time, leveled similar claims against his ex-wife.

The 29-year-old wrote, “I take full responsibility and accountability for the hurt that I inflicted during my relationship with my past partner — emotionally, mentally and yes, physically. It’s a moment that I will regret for the rest of my life … If I could do anything to take it back, I would.”

“I am sorry,” Jenner continued. “There are many things that I wish I could have done differently, and while I wish it did not take the pain that was suffered throughout the course of our relationship, I will never regress to making the same mistakes ever again.”

"I will never stop doing the work necessary to better myself in all areas of my life. I wish you and your family nothing but good health, joy and love,” he vowed.
