Though she dated Prince William for nearly a decade, Kate Middleton didn't join the royal family until their fairy tale royal wedding in 2011.
Since then, she has never put a foot wrong, always following royal protocol, working hard, and giving birth to an heir, a spare, and even a third.
Kate has seamlessly joined the royal family, looking as if she was born into it (especially compared to some who actually were; we're looking at you Prince Andrew.)
Her hard work has paid off, and apparently the Queen is incredibly happy with the Duchess of Cambridge.

Jennie Bond, a former royal correspondent for the BBC spoke of the Queen's admiration for Kate on Lorraine.
She claims Kate has really "come into her own" often working "behind the scenes." She also spoke about the "quiet dignity" displayed by the future Queen Consort, something the British public are starting to really "love" about her.
Bond continued, "She's doing very well isn't she? She's so dignified. She has a quiet dignity about her which I think the public is growing to love and she works behind the scenes."

When the host asked if Kate was the Queen's favorite, Bond denied this, claiming, "The Queen is very, very fond of Sophie countess of Wessex - she often takes her place besides the Queen. But I think she admires the way that Catherine, as she’s known in royal circles, has adapted to the job being a Queen-in-waiting."
So, though Kate may not be as close to the Queen as some members of the royal family, she is clearly admired for her hard work and loyalty.

Compared to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who haven't exactly had the best year, Prince William and Kate Middleton have experienced what the Daily Mail referred to as an "annus mirabilis" and much of this could be put down to the fact that Kate has really become comfortable in her position.
Now, a mother of three, and completely comfortable in her role as wife to the future king, Kate has displayed a confidence and reliability that is greatly admired by the British people.

Though she was born a commoner and not raised within the royal fold, the Queen is proud of the way Kate has taken to her role.
Kate and William have seen something of a reinvention this year, amid all the turmoil the rest of the royal family has been through with multiple scandals.
They've been the couple that has been solid and reliable throughout all this drama, something the British people want in the future leaders of the monarchy.
