Actor Chris Hemsworth may have gained some muscle for his role as the God of Thunder, but apparently, his wife thought it was a little too much!

The 38-year-old actor married Elsa Pataky in 2010 and the couple has two children together. When he first took on the role of the Marvel superhero Thor in the 2011 film of the same name, he had to put on some serious muscle.

However, it seems that his wife was NOT a fan of his bulging physique!

In a new interview with USA Today, Chris dished on his wife's hilarious and surprising reaction to his muscle mass.

“My wife was like, ‘Bleh, it’s too much,'” he revealed. “There are a lot of my male friends who are like, ‘Yeah!’ but a lot of female friends and family are like, ‘Yuck.'”

Believe it or not, the "Spiderhead" actor blamed his increased muscle mass on having nothing else to do during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

“It came from boredom, sitting in COVID lockdown was like a prison,” he explained. “It was train, eat, train, eat. Nothing else to do. Then I turned up for the film bigger than I’ve ever been.”

"Thor: Love and Thunder" director Taika Waititi revealed that a lot of people are asking him about how Chris gets so big, but he says that the "Interceptor" actor is responsible for his own fit physique. “Trainers and stuff are asking me how he does it but it’s all-natural," Waititi said.

Waititi also noted that Chris is "huge already" but when he finally showed up to him his latest entry in the MCU, Waititi noticed that his arms were "twice as big as normal" and "as wide as my head."

“There’s a real process that goes into achieving these goals. But I think over the last 10 years, we’ve managed to come up with ways to do that," he explained.

Chris' trainer, Luke Zocchi, said that his signature muscles come down to “consistency, hard work and also eating the right foods.”

Luke Zocchi also opened up about Hemsworths' intense training regimen in an Instagram video. He revealed that the God of Thunder consumes about 4,500 calories a day, spread out over the course of ten meals.

“When we go into prep for movies like ‘Thor,’ it’s a massive increase in food,” Zocchi added, saying that Chris eats about six to eight meals a day. However, he skipped out on meat for one meal when he had a kissing scene with actress Natalie Portman, who reprised her role as Jane Foster for "Thor: Love and Thunder."

During a recent appearance on the UK radio series, “Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp,” the “Black Swan” actress opened up about what it was like working with Chris Hemsworth on set.

Portman, who is a vegan, revealed that Hemsworth decided to skip his usual dose of meat for his morning meal because he knew they had a kiss scene to shoot that day and wanted to be respectful.

“The day we had a kiss scene, he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan,” Portman explained, adding that Chris “eats meat like every half hour.” Portman said that she didn’t tell him to cut out meat, saying he made the decision on his own because “he was just being thoughtful.”

Chris wasn't the only one who had to bulk for the role. The "V for Vendetta" star also had to put on some muscle for her role as Mighty Thor.

Natalie compared her role in "Thor: Love and Thunder" with her previous role in "Black Swan" in an interview with Variety. She explained that it helped change her "state of mind as a woman" to bulk up, instead of losing weight.

“On ‘Black Swan,’ I was asked to get as small as possible,” she explained. “Here, I was asked to get as big as possible. That’s an amazing challenge — and also state of mind as a woman.”

She added, “To have this reaction and be seen as big, you realize, ‘Oh, this must be so different, to walk through the world like this. When you’re small — and also, I think, because I started as a kid — a lot of times I feel young or little or, like, a pat-on-the-head kind of person. And I present myself that way, too, because of that.”
