Mark Hamill Wishes 'Star Wars' Costar Harrison Ford A Happy 80th Birthday

On Wednesday, Mark Hamill shared a special birthday message for his “Star Wars” costar Harrison Ford.

Although Ford is well-known for his role as Indiana Jones, he's best known to Star Wars fans as Han Solo. On Wednesday, July 13, Ford celebrated his milestone 80th birthday. Many fans and famous friends rushed to social media to wish him a happy birthday.

Hamill kept his tweet simple, sharing a photo of the two sitting side by side with their arms around each other like old friends.

"For Harrison: ? Glad to be your pal, mh ?," Hamill captioned the birthday message.

One fan shared another photo of the two together, with the caption, “I wish someone would look at me the way Mark Hamill looks at Harrison Ford.”

One fan commented, "Back in 2007, I met Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas in Demming, NM, while working as an extra in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.' I still have a photo of me and Steven Spielberg somewhere. And man, it was hotter ‘n h---."

"I gotta tell you—seeing a childhood hero like (the real-life Indiana Jones) in person leaves a mark," he continued. "He didn’t say much, but he did shake my hand to thank me and a couple of other Soldiers for coming to Deming, NM from Ft. Bliss, to help them film on such short notice."

Ford has a reputation for being exceedingly kind to his fans, which is partly what makes him such a beloved actor. Illustrator and artist Kyle Lambert also took to Twitter to wish Ford a happy birthday, sharing a time when Ford complimented his paintings and even signed them! Kyle called it a real "pinch me moment with a Hollywood Legend."

The Peter Mayhew Foundation, run by the family of late Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, also took to Twitter to wish Ford a happy birthday, jokingly calling him a "Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder."

Many fans also commented on the post to wish Ford a happy birthday and share photos of Ford and the late Mayhew together.

Another fan also posted a throwback snap of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill behind-the-scenes in 1977, the same year that "A New Hope" was released. Unfortunately, Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia Organa, passed away in December 2016.

Although "Girls" alum Adam Driver doesn't use social media, fans still shared photos of the two together on social media. In the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Adam Driver plays Kylo Ren and Ben Solo, the son of both Han Solo and Leia Organa.

The Star Wars Twitter account had to pay tribute to the beloved actor, calling him "a scoundrel always worth celebrating."

The Star Wars UK Twitter account also wished him a happy birthday, tweeting, "You’ll always be our favourite scruffy-looking nerf herder."
