Outside of the tapings of "Jeopardy!," we don't get a ton of chances to see Alex Trebek out and about. In general, the game show host is a fairly private person.
This weekend, Trebek had his annual holiday party, and fans were thrilled to see the host looking active. Trebek is currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which he announced months ago on "Jeopardy!" The host was spotted on model Paris Dylan's Instagram account. The social media star attended the event with boyfriend Don McLean.
In the caption for the post, Dyland suggested that meeting Trebek had meant a lot to her. "Alex Trebek is such an amazing man!" she wrote. "It was an honor getting to meet him. ♥️ #alextrebek #horriblelight."
Since the post went live, fans have been flooding the comments with positive words for the host. "Wow @parisdylan550! You definitely made it," one user wrote in a comment. "You know you did when you meet legends like the one and only Alex Trebek."
"Biggest fan of u Alex ur amazing person and intelligent man and love ur game show also," another wrote. "I’ve lost my grandma to cancer stage 4. But ur a fighter I believe in u. Love in Anchorage Alaska USA."
"If he was single I’d set him up with my mom. They are both destroying cancer!" a third fan commented. Yet another user wrote: "He seems like such a good person. so cool." Across the internet, people are sending Trebek their love.
It's clear that his struggle with cancer is resonating with people across the world who know someone battling the same thing. Trebek's decision to be honest about his treatment has given fans a chance to know him in a way they never could before.
Now, we know that the brilliant host is vulnerable, and that's made a world of difference to all of the people who admire him. It also gave "Jeopardy!" fans a chance to reflect on what he means to them.
Hopefully, Trebek will be able to beat this cancer scare and continuing hosting "Jeopardy!" for years to come. The show simply wouldn't be the same without his wit and occasionally pointed sarcasm.
Although many fans probably didn't realize it until recently, Trebek is a huge part of what makes the show work. Without him steering the ship, "Jeopardy!" wouldn't be the massive juggernaut that it is today. That's why seeing him at a holiday party means so much to so many.
