Rapper Lil Wayne’s private jet was raided in Miami after federal agents claimed they got a tip on drugs being transported on the plane. The authorities claim they found cocaine and a gun on board.
According to multiple reports, the search was federal investigators with the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with Miami-Dade Police Department.
Agents boarded Wayne’s airplane after it landed a Miami-Opa Locka Executive airport, and searched it for any illegal items. The Miami-Herald reported the agents seized cocaine and a gun.
The airplane was a Gulfstream G-V with the ability to hold up to 14 passengers and crew, and the flight was coming into Miami from California.
At this point, people who were on the flight could face federal charges for transporting the drugs and the gun. But, it is unclear if Lil Wayne will be amongst the people charged. Wayne’s Florida attorney told the media he was cleared to leave the scene seemingly putting the items on other passengers.
The bigger issue would have been if anyone is charged or arrested today, the person would have had to spend the Christmas holiday in federal custody. Under normal protocol, anyone arrested the feds would have to see a federal judge who would not be back until Thursday.
Lil Wayne had a brush with law enforcement in May after he refused to enter the ‘Rolling Loud ‘ festival after he became aware cops were checking artists when they arrived.
This is the second hip-hop artist to have their plane raided in less than a month. As we reported, JuiceWRLD has his private jet searched by federal agents for a similar issue. JuiceWRLD died after reports say he attempted to swallow some of the evidence on the jet.
Many fans have pointed out, it seems law enforcement is targeting rap artists while traveling to perform shows.
It’s unclear if Wayne will be held responsible for anything found on the plane.
