Actress Florence Pugh made a bold fashion statement when she went braless in a sheer pink dress at a fashion show in Rome.

The "Black Widow" star shared some photographs of the event to her Instagram page to show off the dress. However, many left comments criticizing her appearance, which prompted her to write a lengthy statement on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

Since then, many celebrities have come to her defense online, including "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" star Jessica Chastain.

The "Scenes from a Marriage" actress posted a photo that Pugh had shared on her Instagram Stories to her own page. She wrote over the photo: “Why is it so threatening for some men to realize that women can love our bodies without your permission?”

She added, “We don’t belong to you.” Chastain has been a vocal supporter of women's rights and even made her thoughts known on Independence Day earlier this month. However, she was far from the only celebrity who took to Instagram to show support for Florence Pugh and her bold fashion statement.

"Bridgerton" star Regé-Jean Page took to his Instagram Stories on Monday to also share his thoughts on the controversy.

“The weird thing about misogyny is men actually listen to other men, so do your bit, cos [sic] the next few years in particular are gonna be a really good time to listen, and take some responsibility, for everyone’s sake.”

The "Midsommar" star explained in detail in her own Instagram post that she knew the dress would cause a stir, but that didn't stop her from wearing it.

Florence Pugh Is 'Not Scared' Of Her Breasts Or The Reaction She Received

The "Little Women" actress posted a very lengthy caption in the post, where she included some more snaps from the event and some that she had shared through her Instagram Stories.

"Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it," she began. "Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink of me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during or even now after."

"What’s been interesting to watch and witness is just how easy it is for men to totally destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see," she added. "You even do it with your job titles and work emails in your bio..?"

"It isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what’s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be," she continued. "Thankfully, I’ve come to terms with the intricacies of my body that make me, me. I’m happy with all of the ‘flaws’ that I couldn’t bear to look at when I was 14. So many of you wanted to aggressively let me know how disappointed you were by my ‘tiny t---’, or how I should be embarrassed by being so ‘flat chested’."

"I’ve lived in my body for a long time," she pointed out. "I’m fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it."

"What’s more concerning is…. Why are you so scared of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? Only one? Maybe none?" she asked. "What. Is. So. Terrifying." She posed to her followers: "It makes me wonder what happened to you to be so content on being so loudly upset by the size of my boobs and body..?"

Pugh continued, "If being loudly abusive towards women publicly in 2022 is so easy for you, then the answer is that it is you who doesn’t know. Grow up. Respect people. Respect bodies. Respect all women. Respect humans. Life will get a whole lot easier, I promise. And all because of two cute little nipples…."
