Rapper DaBaby was taken into custody Monday evening after performing at his hometown in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Video on Twitter taken by fans shows the "Suge" rapper being led out of the Bojangles' Coliseum in handcuffs and getting searched before being put in the back of a police cruiser. Local reporters caught up with the hip-hop star after the incident and even though he was just cited for a misdemeanor offense and released from custody, he is upset and thinks cops broke protocol.
28-year-old DaBaby, aka Jonathan Kirk, performed Monday night in Charlotte as part of his KIRK world tour. Unfortunately, he was caught up in some legal issues after he stepped off the stage and ended up in handcuffs. It's unclear if police were waiting for him or something sparked the arrest, but there's a good chance he figured something was coming.
Earlier in the evening, DaBaby wrote a message on his IG Story and alluded that he had been getting hassled by the local police department.
"Dirty ass police try to take me to jail every time I got a show in the city," he wrote.

After the incident, DaBaby sounded off about what happened and said the police department tried to make him look bad in front of his daughter right before Christmas.
As for what the citation was for, the rapper said it was for resisting arrest, although he was reportedly also cited for marijuana possession.
However, DaBaby said, "They were unlawfully searching myc ar while I was on stage."
He said he continued to perform and put on a show for his fans, and that his video production team captured audio/video of the entire event.

DaBaby, who is from Charlotte, said his team has "high-quality audio and video of me doing everything but resisting arrest."
He plans to release the footage, and says he will show "How dirty the CMPD did me in front of my daughter during the holidays."
The hip-hop star then accused the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department of targeting him when he performs in town.
"Every time I do a show here," he said, explaining that he is followed and pulled over for no reason and that the police treat him and his entourage like "animals."
