'Midnight Mass' Creator Mike Flanagan Responds To Emmys Snub

"Midnight Mass" creator Mike Flanagan and actor Rahul Kohli are reacting to the Emmys snub on Tuesday morning.

Many fans were sure that star Hamish Linklater was practically guaranteed an Emmy nomination for his performance in the Netflix horror series, but many were left disappointed.

On Tuesday afternoon, Flanagan took to Twitter to address the outpouring of support that he received from fans.

On Tuesday afternoon, the "Doctor Sleep" director shared a simple tweet, thanking fans for their support.

"Really, really appreciate our MIDNIGHT MASS fans today," he tweeted. "It's been very cool to see you guys rally, and it means a lot. Thank you for the messages and tweets, you guys are the best."

"iZombie" star Rahul Kohli, who also starred in the series, couldn't hide his disappointment. He tweeted, "F---ing snubbed. Especially Hamish. What a load of s---." He added, "Congrats to everyone else though."

Although Flanagan responded with a Seinfeld shrug GIF, Rahul added, "You made one of the best shows of the decade, boss. I know you don’t care about these things, but I’m p---ed on your behalf." He added a GIF of Hamish's character, saying, "We're gonna do great things."

/Film tweeted, "If we ran the Emmys, Midnight Mass would've been nominated for everything."

"H--- yes. It is sensational," another fan agreed. "They overlooked the stellar performances, which itself was absurd, but my gosh…the writing! Kate Segal’s soliloquy. That beautiful piece of writing- overlooked. Insane."

A Kate Siegel fan account tweeted, "Midnight Mass is such a phenomenal miniseries that deserves more recognition, also all the actors but I really need to mention Sam Sloyan and Kate Siegel as the highlights of the show. You may not have an Emmy today but you are winners in our view, I will never forget this show."

"Midnight Mass meant so much to me, not just as a horror fan, but as a former catholic who related to the show a lot," another fan wrote. "Thank you, Mike Flanagan and the entire cast and crew for gifting us with this!"

"I’m so heartbroken that it didn’t receive any noms, but I hope our reaction showed you and the team how deeply and genuinely you touched our hearts & souls with this show," another fan commented. "Please keep on, Mike!"

To avoid giving away spoilers, the synopsis for "Midnight Mass" simply reads: "The arrival of a charismatic priest brings miracles, mysteries and renewed religious fervour to a dying town." The series is most definitely worth a watch and currently available to stream on Netflix.
