Actor Mark Hamill loves to interact with his fans and provide them with fun behind-the-scenes information.

He first portrayed Luke Skywalker in the first "Star Wars" movie ever made by George Lucas: 1977's "A New Hope." He has reprised his role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and even made cameo appearances as a de-aged Luke Skywalker in the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett."

On Sunday, Mark decided to weigh in on a controversy that has rocked the fandom for decades.

Star Wars Twitter poll about AT-AT

On July 8, the official Star Wars Twitter account created a poll asking fans how they pronounce AT-AT. After 136,439 votes, 71.3% said it's pronounced AT-AT, while 28.7% said it was pronounced AT-AT. Jokes aside, on Sunday, Mark actually seemed to provide a serious answer to the question.

Mark tweeted: "FYI: When we would ask George: "Is it Chew-bah-ka or Chew-back-a?" / "Is it Lay-a or Lee-a?" / "Is it Hahn or Han (as in hand)?"- he would just shrug & didn't really care. He told us it would be pronounced in various ways in different parts of the galaxy. 🤨#TrueStory"

Considering how many regional dialects exist throughout the world, it does seem like a good point that both variations of pronunciations would be correct given just how many species there are in a galaxy far, far away!

However, in a follow-up tweet, Mark clarified his own personal take on the matter. He said that he think it's pronounced like @-@ (at-at) even though he just calls them "walkers" - not to be confused with the zombies in "The Walking Dead!"

As another user pointed out, "What I find really interesting about the 'canon' pronunciation of R2D2 used in the official German dub is that it's pronounced Er-zwo-de-zwo, which is a non-standard way to say "2" (as in, it's a dialect) as opposed to the standard pronunciation Er-zwei-de-zwei."

Although Mark's answer did nothing to quell that age-old debate, he still has a lot of behind-the-scenes fun facts to share with Star Wars fans!

Mark Says He, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford Behaved Like 'Total Brats' On Set!

Back in April, Zane Hubbard tweeted a funny behind-the-scenes “Star Wars” video from “A New Hope” where they did a take, only to realize that a mic was in the picture.

“We need more Star Wars BTS like this!! Absolute gold!” Zane captioned the video, where he also tagged Mark Hamill.

A few days later, Hamill responded to the video. He retweeted the video, along with the caption, “The most fun was when Carrie, Harrison & I all got to work together. Here we are behaving like total brats, ganging up on George [Lucas] & teasing him mercilessly as if the "mike was in picture" was HIS fault!”

He said that “Our goofiness always seemed to cheer him up” and added the hashtag “#StarWarsBTS_Tomfoolery.”

Unfortunately, it seems like Zane has since deleted the video.

Correspondent Rupert Myers then asked, "What's the most valuable thing you've ever kept? Surely a lightsaber?" However, what Mark kept seems to be a lot more personal.
