Charlize Theron Keeps It Drama Free on 'The View'

Just days after a tense exchange between Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain on "The View," Charlize Theron showed everyone on the show that she knows exactly how live TV works. The "Bombshell" star was on the show to promote her new film, and everything was going well.

The only issue came when Theron, who was clearly passionate about her experience shooting the movie, went a little long in her answer discussing the shoot. At one point, you can see Goldberg waving her arms to try and cut Theron off.

When Theron saw the gesture, she understood exactly what it meant, and said: "Sorry, Whoopi, go!" The actress knows that live TV has to cut to commercial breaks and that all Whoopi was trying to do was make sure that the show stayed on schedule.

It was a remarkably drama-free exchange on a show that's usually overflowing with drama. Even on a show like "The View," it can really depend who you're talking to. Sometimes, there's no need for debate or dramatics.

The drama that came earlier this week was the result of Goldberg telling McCain to "stop talking" when she continuously interrupted the rest of the panel. It was clear that there was some hostility behind the comment, which isn't uncommon with exchanges involving McCain.

When the show returned following the incident, Goldberg was careful to address it at length. She explained that things often get heated on "The View," but that doesn't mean that the show's host don't have the utmost respect for one another.

"Things get heated on this show," Goldberg explained. "If you watch this show, you know this has happened over the years. We’re really passionate. This is our job. We come in, we talk to each other, sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is. But you’re going to be dealing with the same thing when you sit around your table with your family and you don’t agree, or somebody says something and goes off the rails. This is part of what we do."

"This is not an indication that women can’t sit around and talk,” the show’s moderating figure continued. "This is not an indication that we don’t know how to deal with each other on camera. Stuff happens on this show in real-time and everybody wherever you sit in all of this, don’t assume that we’re over here with little butcher knives under the table. This is our gig and sometimes it goes off the rails and it does. Everybody just calm down. It’s a TV show."
