After more than 100-days in the neonatal intensive care unit, Nick Jonas says everything is now, “all good.” The singer/actor and wife Priyanka Chopra, 39, were relieved and excited to bring their little girl, Malti Marie, home from the hospital back in May.
Embracing the Dad Life and Loving It
The celebrity couple’s firstborn, now six-months-old, arrived earlier this year on January 15 via surrogate. She ended up spending more than 100 days in the NICU. Jonas recently told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier at the ACC Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada what it’s like for him being a father. “It is certainly life-changing. Malti is amazing. It brings me a lot of joy. All is good,” he said. He’s clearly loving his new role as a father.
During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in May, Jonas said it was a blessing to finally have his daughter at home. “It’s pretty wild. She’s the best,” he said. “It’s just been magical season of our life, but it’s a blessing to have her home. It’s been wonderful.”
On Mother’s Day, the couple revealed that their journey into parenthood was a “rollercoaster.” They said, “On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is. We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home, and just want to thank every doctor, nurse and specialist at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, who were there selflessly every step of the way.”
Jonas said things have been more intense since his daughter’s arrival, in an interview with Variety. “The weight of everything is much more intense. I think it’s now about trying to be as present as possible and as thoughtful as you can be for your family, but also for other people’s journeys,” he said. “I’m so grateful for Malti Marie and the wonderful perspective of being a parent.”
The Road to Parenthood for the Celebrity Couple
Jonas and Chopra began dating in May 2018. They fell in love fast and got engaged just two months later. The two tied the knot in a three-day wedding ceremony in Chopra’s native India beginning on December 1, 2018. Their family and love grew when baby Malti was born. The two parents have kept their daughter out of the public eye as much as possible. When they do post photos of her, they make sure to cover her face.
It’s a Family Affair
The family just keeps growing with all three Jonas Brothers being called “dad” now. Earlier this month, the singers talked to People about parenthood and the fact that they all live in different places now. Joe is dad to daughter Willa with wife Sophie Turner and are currently expecting their second child. Kevin is dad to two daughters, Alena Rose, 8 and Valentina Angelina, 5, with wife Danielle Jonas. They told People that they are making it a priority to enjoy time together as a family while getting ready for their first Las Vegas residence show at the Park MGM.
Fans may also be wondering if there will be any new Jonas Brothers music in the future. “We’re working on stuff now – the brothers (Kevin and Joe Jonas) – feeling really good. Hopefully, some stuff is coming later this year,” said Nick. Will all the kids be joining their dads on the road? Nick said, “A lot of kids! They’re everywhere and we love it.”
