Michelle Obama Stands Up to Donald Trump After He Dissed Greta Thunberg

Even though Michelle Obama is no longer the first lady, it doesn't mean that she doesn't like to get involved. Especially when it comes to injustice. According to [PopCulture,] (https://popculture.com/trending/2019/12/14/michelle-obama-greta-thunberg-support/) On Friday December 13th, Michelle Obama tweeted Greta Thunberg words of encouragement after Trump attacked her via twitter.

Greta Thunberg was chosen as Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2019. Many celebrities supported her including Kim Kardashian, Woody Harrelson and Billie Eilish have stood behind the young activist and her initiative for climate change.

The most recent celebrity to stand behind Thunberg is former first lady Michelle Obama.

".@GretaThunberg, don’t let anyone dim your light. Like the girls I’ve met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all. Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on," Michelle Obama tweeted encouragingly.

Michelle Obama is subtweeting none other than Trump. After Time Magazine announced Thunberg would be receiving the prestigious title, Trump had his own thoughts on the matter.

"So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!" Trump tweeted on Thursday bitterly replying to Roma Downey's tweet congratulating Thunberg.

Donald and Melania Trump are receiving backlash for his tweet especially after Melania criticized Democrats for bullying their son Baron and always started an initiative called the "Be Best" campaign to stop cyberbullying. While Democrats have apologized for the comments about Baron, Trump has not apologized for his tweet.

Thunberg is one of the world's most famous activists at only 16 years old. She is known for speaking out about climate change delivering a powerful speech to the United Nations. She used her speech as momentum to continue raising awareness for climate change in the global eye.

She has attended protests around the world moving crowds with powerful words. She even lead her own strike in Montreal this September which about 50,000 people attended to rally around her.

"I don't understand why grown-ups would mock children and teenagers for just communicating and acting on the science when they could do something good instead," she said during her speech at the strike. "We've become too loud for people to handle so they try to silence us. So we should also take that as a compliment."

Trump's tweet taunting Thunberg occurred amid his impeachment hearings. As of Friday, December 13th, the House of Representatives passed two articles of impeachment. It will now be in the hands of the Senate.
