How Did Prince William and Prince Harry Find Out About Their Father Cheating on Their Mother With Camilla?

Although things may have seemed happy for Prince Charles and Princess Diana at the beginning of their relationship and marriage, it wasn't too long after they did say their vows that things started going downhill for them. According to the Princess of Wales, there were three people in the marriage and it was getting too crowded.

What the Princess meant by that is that she found out her husband, the Prince of Wales was cheating on her with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Once Diana found out, little Prince William noticed a change in his parent's relationship. He came to his mother and said he knew something was going on and asked her if she would answer his questions. Seeing as how he was the older child and would understand more than his little brother, Prince Harry, she said yes, she would tell him by answering his questions. This was all according to an interview Diana did with BBC Journalist, Martin Bashir.

After this, Prince William knew about his father's affair with Camilla. However, Prince Harry had no clue yet. The way he did find out, really didn't seem fair for a small child to find out this way.

Diana told journalist, Martin Bashir, "William asked me what had been going on, and could I answer his questions, which I did. He said, was that the reason why our marriage had broken up? And I said, well, there were three of us in this marriage, and the pressure of the media was another factor, so the two together were very difficult.”

Diana had explained to Prince William back then, "Although I still loved Papa I couldn’t live under the same roof as him, and likewise with him.”

How Prince Harry found out is a little different. Diana didn't say anything to him because he was younger than William and she didn't think he would understand the situation like his older brother did.

William and Harry were watching TV together one time and Camilla appeared on a show called The Monarchy Debate. The host of the TV show came on and asked the question that Prince William and Prince Harry both had to hear. He said, "What does the public think? Will Camilla ever be Queen?"

Little Prince Harry asked his older brother who Camilla was? Prince William looked at him and said, "Don't you know?"

After the boys' conversation took place that day, they never spoke of it again. How sad was it for Prince Harry to find out this way? Think about it. He really didn't know who she was or why the host of the TV show was asking if she would ever be the Queen. He was a clueless little boy. We are wondering what kind of reaction he had when he did find out that she was the mistress of his father's.

People often wonder if the two Prince's and their now stepmother, Camilla, really do get along. Prince Harry always says that he and William "love Camilla to bits!"

However, one thing is for sure about the boys and how they may truly feel about their stepmother. During Camilla's 70th birthday party, the two Prince brothers were supposed to say some nice words about Camilla in front of everyone. Both of them chose not to speak kind words about her or anything at all for that matter. Because of this, their family and friends often wondered if the boys and their stepmother really were as close as they acted in public.

According to Royal biographer, Christopher Wilson, the boys and Camilla's relationship is not nearly as tight as they make it seem to be to everyone else.

Wilson wrote this in the Daily Mail, "Though to all outward appearances she has the support and friendship of Prince William and Prince Harry, privately there is a distance."
