Sherri Shepherd Is Taking Over Daytime TV, Unveiling A Side We've Never Seen!

Sherri Shepherd is ready to take over daytime TV!

After getting a taste of the talk show world while working as an anchor for "The View," the renowned entertainer is getting ready to launch her own program.

During a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 55-year-old comedian opened up about her upcoming show, declaring it would be the next big thing.

Before stepping into her hosting shoes, Shepherd made a name for herself as a comedian, actress, and author. Now, the "30 Rock" star wanted a new challenge.

According to the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant, having her own show was a dream come true as she has always wanted to embark on a project that brought joy and laughter into people's lives.

The TV personality confessed that making viewers feel good has been the fuel that drove her actions, a good example was her recent appearance at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans on Sunday, July 3.

For the event, the Chicago native teamed up with Ford to make a lucky person's day by giving out a brand new Mach-E mustang electric vehicle.

Similarly, the "Best Ever Trivia Show" host hoped to bless her audience with the best moments on TV through her new talk show "Sherri," which would air this September.

Shepherd's interest in launching her daytime show presumably started after the mother-of-two served as Wendy Williams' fill-in on her syndicated program before its cancellation.

Talking about the show, "The Jamie Foxx Show" actress explained that she hosted the gig according to Williams' format but fans should not expect her to do the same on "Sherri."

As a person who enjoyed finding the "lightness and humor of a hot topic story," the entertainer promised that the upcoming TV show would show a new side of her. In the 55-year-old's words:

"It literally will be everything I haven't been able to display. You only got to see snippets of what I do when I'm a guest on a talk show or when I was on The View."

For those who love drama, comedy, and keeping up with the Pop cultural world, the channel was where you wanted to be as the host declared she would blow her viewers' troubles away.

The Braveheart Award winner pointed out that people were always bothered by something like their problems as parents, Black people, and even the end of women's constitutional right to abortion.

Bearing these reasons in mind, the "Plan D" author wanted to help the world escape from their nagging thoughts through a fun TV experience, stating that she planned on filling the void Ellen DeGeneres left behind.

"Ellen is gone, and I love Kelly Clarkson because she's naturally authentic," Shepherd said, "but people underestimate a standup comic and that's where we come in."

Proudly tutting her horn, the "Trial & Error" star emphasized that she was the right person to take DeGeneres' place, noting that comedians created magic from nothing and she planned enchanting viewers.

A good time was not the only thing the TV personality was bringing to the table as the Gracie Award winner revealed that showrunners had budgeted a substantial amount on her wigs.

As previously reported by The Blast, Shepherd has been putting together a guest list for her new talk show, which included her predecessor's name.

For those who are not aware, the Chicago native's upcoming program served as a replacement for "The Wendy Williams Show," which ended amid the former host’s health issues.

After serving as Williams' fill-in, the "Less than Perfect" actress impressed the showrunners with her skills, earning the 55-year-old a brand new talk show.

To show her appreciation to the "Think Like A Man" actress for helping her achieve her dreams, Shepherd wanted the 57-year-old to be one of the first guests she interviewed.

Paying tribute to Williams, the entertainer acknowledged that she would not have gotten the opportunity to host her daytime talk show if she had not worked on the National Radio Hall of Fame inductee's program. 

Aside from the "Ask Wendy" author, Shepherd's guest list also included famous figures like Idris Elba, Regé-Jean Page, and Michelle Obama.
