Ming-Na Wen Issues 'Star Wars' Fans A... Two-Minute Shower Challenge?

Actress Ming-Na Wen doesn't live on Tatooine, but she still knows the importance of conserving water.

The former Disney princess (Mulan, if you were wondering) has since joined the “Star Wars” franchise as mercenary Fennec Shand. Although she had a brief appearance in “The Mandalorian,” she later starred alongside Temuera Morrison in “The Book of Boba Fett.”

She has been wholeheartedly embraced by the fandom, which is why she has issued them a challenge... a shower challenge!

On Wednesday, the “Hacks” actress took to Instagram to show how she takes a shower.

“THE 2 MINUTES SHOWER CHALLENGE!??” she wrote in the caption of the video. “I showered AND washed my hair using only 2 minutes of running water. Can you beat that?!”

“I collect the cold water that pumps out of my shower in 2 big bowls,” she explained, referring to the bowls that can be seen on the edge of the tub in the video. “You know, that cold water before the water warms up?!”

“I then quickly wet my hair and body,” she explains. “I TURN OFF the shower faucet while I wash my hair (with Wen, of course), using some of the collected water to suds up. Then dunk my hair into one bowl to rinse. Repeat with 2nd bowl of collected water.”

“Next, I soap up my body. I turn the shower back on for a quick, complete rinse,” she went on. “I used up about 2 mins of running water. Might’ve been less! ??Yes, it’s more effort, but I am trying to do my part during the super bad drought in California. It’s better than NOT having running water at all!”

She reminded fans that “Every effort to conserve water is vital,” adding, “I’ve also gotten rid of most of our inground planters around the house. Unfortunately, the pool is another issue. I’m hoping we can downsize it in the future.”

“If you have other ways to save water, let me know!! ?❤️” she wrote, ending her post with the hashtags #conservewater, #drought, and #californiadrought.

The post was viewed over 50,000 times in only a few hours as fans gave her positive message two thumbs-up.

“You’re inspiring! ❤️” one fan wrote. “My wife and I actually do the same thing with the cold water before the shower gets warm (save it in plastic bottles or containers), but we use that water to water some potted plants in the backyard and to help fill up the washing machine. Every drop counts here in CA! ? Take care and have a great day!”

Another fan shared, “Here in the Philipines, we're accustomed to storing buckets of water, and--if we have to--using a dipper to get water so we can pour it on ourselves as we take a bath. Saves a lot of water, too!”

“I bought a low flow shower head that has a shut off button. Makes a pretty big difference,” another follower suggested. “I may have to put the drain stopper in and see how much water i actually use. ?”

“I always turn off the water while I soap up,” another fan shared. “It seems like a waste of water and soap any other way, imagine you're camping and have to use quarters for water while you shower.”

“I learned to do that in the Philippines when visiting my wife’s family 8 years ago,” another offered. “Such a great way to save water.”

Another follower said that her strategy is “Just like taking a shower on a Submarine. Turn water on get wet. Turn water off. Soap up from head to toe. Turn water on and rinse. Turn water off then done. Water was usually cold ? because it didn’t have time to warm up. Water conservation is important.”

One fan said they were an “ex Navy vet” and they “can do that in 45 seconds.” Another follower said, “I once took 30 second showers for 3 months straight ☃️.”

However, more than one follower said they had another idea on how to save water: “Um, I skip showering until I have to. ?”
