At the time, Dana Petty said in court documents she's was given the authority to run the estate, but Tom's daughter's made it very difficult to manage the estate. She claimed the woman conspired to push her out.

As for the unreleased music, Dana claims in a lawsuit, both daughters had gone off the rails directing their issues with people involved in Tom's life including the surviving members of The Heartbreakers.

To make her point, Dana filed emails sent to band members -- Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell -- in which Tom's daughter Adria wrote, "What I don't have the temperament for is having my entire life raped. Being disparaged. My dad being disgraced. And being surrounded by selfish, unreliable people and drug addicts."

Dana claimed in her suit, the daughters were blocking the release of new solo tracks that Petty had recorded 25 years ago, the music was to be released with a 25th-anniversary box set release of his smash hit album, "Wildflowers."

Tom's daughter's, from a previous marriage, sued his widow for allegedly mismanaging the late rocker's businesses. Also, they claim Dana did not include them in important decisions with the singer's estate.

According to the court documents, Dana is denied she left out the singer's daughters from involvement in decisions on his music and legacy. In fact, she says she bent over backwards to involve the girls.

Powerhouse attorney, Adam Streisand, told us at the time, “Dana Petty would have done almost anything to avoid all of this. Over the past weeks and months, however, the behavior of her stepdaughters Adria and Annakim has gone from unconscionable to unhinged – and it needs to be stopped."

He continued, "Tom Petty entrusted his wife Dana to choose how all three women could work together to carry on Tom’s legacy. But Adria and Annakim thought they could bully Dana and cast her aside. In the process, they’ve threatened, maligned and sued the people Tom worked closely with for decades."
