Why Is Victoria Beckham Terrified For Her Daughter Harper?

Harper Beckham is growing up, and with age comes social media accounts. The thought of Harper Seven, who turns 11 on July 10, joining any social media, terrifies mom Victoria Beckham. The fashion designer, 48, has opened up about what it's like to parent her youngest child and only daughter with Vogue Australia.

While Harper isn't currently on any social media, Victoria is thinking ahead and worries that body shaming and other issues can impact her daughter negatively. "Harper isn't on social media, so we don't have to worry about it just yet. But seeing how cruel people can be, yes it really does (concern me)," she said. Victoria explained that Harper is at an age where her body is starting to change, but they make sure to communicate as a family and that she surrounds herself with nice friends.

Harper has made it known that she's not really a fan of the old Spice Girls style that Victoria rocked from 1994 through 2000. "She actually said to me recently, 'Mummy, I've seen some pictures of you when you were in the Spice Girls and your skirts were just unacceptable. They were just too short,'" she said. Dad David Beckham jumped into the conversation to agree with his daughter's opinions. "Then David piped up and said, 'Absolutely, Harper! They really, really were.' And she was actually quite disgusted at how short my skirts were," Victoria explained. "I said, 'Are you never going to wear skirts like that?' She said, 'Absolutely not.' We'll see." Victoria said that her daughter is "not one of these kids who are going out with a full face of makeup and a crop top."

While Victoria was known for her signature black mini dress as Posh Spice, she's changed and matured throughout the years since her singing days. Her current style is quite different than her previous Spice Girls style, and can now be called sophisticated and polished. Her clothing line launched in 2008, and cosmetics line, Victoria Beckham Beauty, in 2019.

Victoria and David are also parents to sons Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 19 and Cruz, 17.  The boys have already chosen their career paths, all in the spotlight. Cruz has chosen music, Romeo has chosen modeling and football and Brooklyn with an online cooking show. Does it worry the couple that their children have chosen to stay in the public eye? "You want to offer your support and do what you can to help them. But it makes you a bit nervous because, you know...you don't ever want anybody to be anything other than kind and love what your children do." Earlier this year, Brooklyn married actress Nicola Peltz. At 23-years-old, he is just two years younger than his parents were when they married in 1999.

During a family vacation last year, Peltz told Victoria something Brooklyn said to her. "We'd had a drink the night before, me and David, and we're kind of stumbling around the garden planting Easter eggs, and I remember seeing Brooklyn standing outside his room watching us. He turned around to Nicola and said, 'I wanna be like that. I want what my mum and dad have got,'" she said. "We are still very close. We love each other. He's my everything."
