Why Are 'Wheel Of Fortune' Fans Turning On Vanna White?

Vanna White made her first appearance as "Wheel of Fortune" host while stepping into Pat Sajak's role following his health scare and fans did not like it. The episode went down on Monday night with several show watchers criticizing the television veteran with many questioning whether she was even ready to fill Pat Sajak's shoes while he's taking some time off to rest and take care of his health. Vanna White, who's been apart of the "Wheel of Fortune" family for 37 years now, stated that she was "petrified" about her host debut and unfortunately, it did not go as smooth as expected.

During the episode, fans immediately went on social media describing the strange and what some labeled "awkward" 60 minutes episode was as they watched her step in as the "Wheel of Fortune" host. "Anyone saying Vanna is doing a great job isnt being honest with themselves. #WheelOfFortune," one fan tweeted. "Watching Vanna host Wheel of Fortune is cool but weird. Very weird. She's not bad, but she doesn't do the back and forth banter with the contestants, so it feels a tad less personal. But hey, she's new at this," added another. "Why is Vanna White so awkward? It's like a car crash. Don't know if I should look away or keep watching," wrote a third.

Vanna White was not the only person on the episode who caught heat over tonight's show. Fans were not pleased with Minnie Mouse's performance. Disney's beloved character took the 62-year-old's place during the show and people were quick to notice that she was not touching the letter tiles when they lit up. The show explained that Minnie was using Disney magic to help her out. "Vanna White is subbing for Pat and Minnie Mouse is doing a terrible job as her replacement. She’s not even walking to the letters, just pointing," one person wrote. Another shared a meme of a confused Minnie Mouse and tweeted that it was "Minnie Mouse trying to figure out how to do Vanna White's challenging job tonight on The Wheel." Someone else labeled the Disney character "lazy" by writing, "Minnie Mouse is on letter duty tonight on #WheelOfFortune and she’s not even “turning” them. Lazy."

Not everyone hated Vanna White's performance though. Some actually applauded her for her efforts as host. "Hey, keep Vanna White as host, please. Send Sajak off to retirement," one viewer suggested. "I waited all day for tonight and I finally got to see one of my favorite things happen. Vanna White hosted WOF. Nothing else happened tonight. Nothing," tweeted someone else. "Vanna White still slays after all these years. I'm glad she got the opportunity to host! Incredibly earned," wrote a third. Just one day ago, it was reported that Pat Sajak would be missing a few episodes as he recovers from emergency surgery. According to Hollywood Reporter, the 73-year-old "Wheel of Fortune" host underwent successful surgery to correct a blocked intestine. At the time, the show announced that Vanna White would be filling in for her longtime show partner as he recovers.
