Fireworks and a Fourth of July celebration took a backseat to well-known director Quentin Tarantino and wife Daniella Pick's exciting news when they welcomed their second baby together over the holiday weekend. Their second child, a baby girl, joins big brother Leo, 2. "Daniella and Quentin Tarantino are happy to announce that Daniella gave birth to their baby girl on July 2, 2022, a little sister to Leo, their first child," they said in a statement released to People. The baby girl's name has yet to be revealed.

Their Son Leo is Now a Big Brother

The couple's first child joined their family in February 2020. And while many might think the "Pulp Fiction" director named their son after actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Tarantino confirmed that wasn't the case at all on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live in June 2021. "We almost didn't name him Leo because people would assume that I named him after Leonardo DiCaprio. There's nothing wrong with that but I didn't," he said. He's named after my wife's grandfather, but also because, just in our hearts, he was our little lion."

The Journey to Becoming Parents

Singer and model Daniella, 38, daughter of Israeli singer-songwriter Tzvika Pick, met the famed director in 2009 when Tarantino was in Israel promoting his film, "Inglourious Basterds." The couple got engaged in 2017 and said "I do" in a Beverly Hills ceremony in November 2018. The timing seemed right for their first child's arrival, as Tarantino was slowing down his career a bit. In a GQ Australia interview, he said that he plans on making just one more feature film after his most recent, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." "I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I've come to the end of the road," he said. "I just think I've given all I have to give to movies."

Life in Israel and Learning Hebrew

In the past few years, the couple has spent much of their time in Israel. They had originally planned to stay a certain amount of time and that has been extended through the pandemic. "The idea was that we would spend like three to four months in Tel Aviv and three to four months in Los Angeles and then COVID hit," he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2021. "So three to four months became nine to 12 months." The filmmaker spent some of that time learning Hebrew with some help from his son. "He can only say one word and that is 'Abba,' which is Hebrew for 'Dada.' And a third of the time, he means me," he told Jimmy Kimmel. "I'm actually learning a lot with Leo because he watches these like, baby TV kind of things and it's all in Hebrew, so I'm learning with him."

From Films to Books

Tarantino has been known for saying he will make only 10 movies in his career and then retire. So far, he's made nine with the last one being "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." No word yet on what his last movie will end up being. In the meantime, he's busy working on a different medium of writing - a book, which is set to be released in the fall. "Cinema Speculation" will be part personal history and part critiquing a series of classic movies from the 70's. This will be his second book after last year's release of the novelization of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
