'Worst Day of My Life'

Prepon turned to Instagram to express her thoughts on the Supreme Court's decision to modify the way people may access planned parenthood clinics and services.

"One of the worst days of my life was when I made the choice to terminate a pregnancy in the second trimester," the 42-year-old penned on her page on Monday.

The actress recounted the decision that led to her abortion, admitting that the doctor advised her that the fetus would not survive the entirety of its gestation period owing to issues that would also endanger her life.

She continued: "The devastating truth is that we found out the fetus would not survive to full term and that my life was at risk as well."

Despite the harshness of the ordeal, Prepon revealed she was grateful that she had "a choice" between terminating the unborn or hoping for the best - an option that the overturned legislation appears to be taking away from pregnant women.

Laura Prepon Is Hoping For A Change

Prepon noted that many women have faced or are facing the same situation and had different reasons for desiring to terminate a fetus. Overall, she urged such women to keep their hopes up while they opposed the government's new stance on abortion.

"Everyone has their own story for seeking out this medical procedure, and I empathize with anyone who's been faced with this impossible decision," the "That '70s Show" star added. "I am praying for all of us that we can get through this challenging time and regain agency over our own bodies."

Prepon and her husband, Ben Foster, have two children, aged four and two. The pair, who initially became romantically involved in 2016, have been married since 2018, despite knowing each other since they were teenagers.

Roe v. Wade Got Overturned

The Supreme Court repealed Roe v. Wade last Friday, meaning that the constitution no longer guaranteed the decades-long federal right to abortion. All states now have the authority to implement varying degrees of abortion rules and impose whatever penalties they see suitable if the laws are broken.

Before the repeal, states like Texas had proposed laws that severely limited access to planned parenthood, causing more outrage and legal challenges. Each abortion completed or attempted outside the constraints of the state law will be charged with a first- or second-degree crime, punishable by a minimum of 5 years and subject to a civil penalty of at least $100,000.

Many other states have enacted similar laws, seemingly unconcerned about the nationwide protests that have started since a draft of the ruling was leaked in May.
