At times, the reality of filming a reality show isn't so sweet. Audrina Patridge and some of her former co-stars on MTV's blockbuster reality show classic "The Hills," unfortunately know this to be true.

Patridge, 37, has had "The Hills" on her mind a lot this year, as the show celebrates its 16th anniversary.

She is gearing up for the release of her memoir, "Choices: To The Hills And Back Again" next month, and she also has recently teamed up with a few of her former party pals and co-stars for a podcast. Patridge goes behind the scenes of the time in her life when she spent her days hanging out with the series' star Lauren Conrad, and hitting up the most exclusive Hollywood clubs of the era by night.

Naturally, the busy bee is reflecting a lot on her time spent in the Hollywood hills during her twenties.

For better or worse, her twenties will always be of interest to fans of "The Hills" old and new, so Patridge understandably has spent a lot of time in reflection on what worked about "The Hills" and what did not work so well as she and her fellow cast members worked to cement the show's legacy.

What Really Went On Behind The Scenes Of 'The Hills: New Beginnings?'

One particular recent chapter in Patridge's journey with "The Hills" stands out for her as a component of her experience that did not work out quite as well as she and her co-stars had hoped.

Patridge and a number of her 'Hills' costars teamed up for MTV's effort to give long-time fans a glimpse into the lives of the now 'grown up' cast members, and to showcase how the cast would attempt to maintain the comradery they had built in their twenties with the inevitable maturity they all had gained over time.

"The Hills: New Beginnings" lasted for two seasons. Unfortunately, according to People, the series came to an end due to its cancellation in January of this year.

Patridge gave the outlet a glimpse into the network's plans for the series' renewal. The forecast for its future did not look as bright as the cast had hoped.

"After the last season of 'New Beginnings,' we were in the six-month waiting period to find out if we were getting another season or not," she revealed.

Speeding up the waiting process turned out not to be an option. Patridge added, "But we couldn't go to another network until MTV made up their minds."

Like the many ups and downs Patridge and her co-stars faced in their twenties, the series underwent a lot of twists and turns during its short run.

Patridge also explained, "I just feel like that formula [of the original show] was lost and we were all over the place for a minute. We had to reshoot for six months. We redid a lot of things on 'The Hills: New Beginnings' because nothing was flowing like it used to. So, it was a journey, but we gave it a shot, and we did the best we could." (via People)

What Can Fans Expect From Patridge's Upcoming Memoir?

Patridge is not holding back when it comes to the contents of her upcoming memoir, which will be released on July 26th!

Last fall, she revealed that the 'Hills' related content in the book wouldn't be the only exciting component of her life to read about.

Patridge told E!, "You will be surprised by other things in there, too, that have been sprinkled in the media over the years, but nobody really knew the real story of what actually happened."

Patridge's gift of 'Hills' related gossip is the gift that keeps on giving for fans of the show, old and new! The upcoming podcast she hosts with Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner will premiere ahead of her memoir's release date, on July 12th. (via People)
