Hollywood star Austin Butler, who has been acting for almost two decades, is best recognized for his supporting parts, most commonly as a love interest.

Despite being a star with a large fan base due to his burgeoning fame in the film business, Butler recently stated that he had individuals in the entertainment world that he looked up to.

Butler described himself as an "enormous" Paul McCartney fan and was thrilled to finally meet the legendary singer and songwriter in an unusual setting. In a recent interview, the actor recounted his first meeting with Paul, which entailed sharing a railway seat on a ride back to London.

The actor detailed the events that led to meeting one of his favorite icons in a recent appearance on Thursday's edition of "The Late Late Show with James Corden." He said he met Paul's daughter Stella while dining at a café in London, and they bonded over a quick meal.

During their talk, Stella, a fashion designer, asked him to her exhibition in Paris at the time, which he attended. He then accompanied her and her father on a train back to London.

"Suddenly, we're on the train," Butler said, describing his meeting with Paul. "We're talking. It's that thing where you tend to meet people that you really admire in a crowd, and you can't speak for more than two seconds. But with this, suddenly we're locked in a train together. And so, we just talked, and he was so human, and it was just amazing."

Paul, 80, rose to prominence as a key member of the Beatles, the legendary band that also featured John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr. They are arguably one of the most renowned bands of all time, with Paul serving as co-lead vocalist, co-writer, and bassist.

Butler's unexpected meeting with Paul, who once shared a room with another music giant, Elvis Presley, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The actor decided to make the most of it by questioning the bassist about his contacts with Elvis Presley.

That chance arose when Stella unintentionally started a conversation about the award-winning singer and songwriter before firing away with his own questions.

"At one point, Stella said something about Elvis," he continued. "And I took that as my moment. I said, 'Paul, I haven't met many people who actually had the opportunity to be in a room with Elvis. What was it like? What was your story?'"

Butler claimed that Paul said he and his teammates were mesmerized for a time by the sight of Presley before they finally settled into his abode. The experience became more memorable as Paul and Presley will play around with some tunes.

"At first, they didn't know what to say to him, they're just looking at him. Then, Elvis picks up a bass guitar and starts fiddling around, and Paul said, 'You know, I play the bass.' So, then Paul picks up the bass, and Elvis picks up a guitar, and they started jamming together," Butler described the story.

Later, Butler and Paul would listen to Charlie Rich's song "Mohair Sam," which the singer had performed with Presley during their visit to his home. Even for a superstar like him, his emotions were at an all-time high at the time.

"And those are those moments where you just gotta pinch yourself and go, 'I can't believe this is my life right now.' Then he gave me a hug, and we went our separate ways," he continued.

The opportunity for Butler to gain insight into Presley's life may have influenced how the actor portrayed the character in the biographical musical drama film "Elvis," directed by Baz Luhrmann.

The 30-year-old actor fought off competition from other well-known celebrities such as Miles Teller, who is appearing in Top Gun: Maverick, as well as singer Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort, to capture the legendary part of the late rocker, with Lurhman declaring the actor was well suited to portray Presley.

"Elvis" covers the eponymous star's meteoric climb to popularity, his friendship with manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks), and his budding relationship with wife Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge). Other cast members include Richard Roxburgh as Elvis' father, Vernon Presley, Luke Bracey, Natasha Bassett, David Wenham, and Joshua Fisk.

On June 24, 2022, Elvis was released theatrically in the United States. The film mainly garnered favorable reviews from critics, with Austin Butler's performance receiving praise.
