Nick Jonas stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show, and Clarkson hilariously admitted that she forgot that The Jonas Brothers opened for her Breakaway tour in 2005. She sheepishly admitted this oversight to Jonas.
"I was reading the pre-interview for this. I had no idea that y’all opened for me in 2005. I feel like I just got really cool!"
Clarkson and Jonas will both be judges on the next season of The Voice, where Jonas will be taking over a red chair from Gwen Stefani, so it's a fun thing to revisit this past connection.

Jonas took the hilarious snub in stride, saying that opening for her helped them "get a lot of gigs."
"No one cared about us in 2005, we were just coming up,. Basically, to get other gigs, we listed the other acts we’d opened up for... But that really just meant that we were on, like, the outside stage in the parking lot while you were playing for 40,000 people."
Jonas continued, explaining that it's been a huge year for the Jonas Brothers since getting back together for a new album.
"This has been quite the crazy year for the family. Just a year ago, right now, we had just started recording music to get together again. You know, looking a year later, we’re finishing up the first leg of a crazy tour and also the album, you know, Happiness Begins. But it all started with a documentary, which we called Chasing Happiness. [It] was kind of just to tell the story of our childhood."
It wasn't easy for the Jonas Brothers to find their way back to each other musically. After the band initially broke up in 2013, Nick pursued a solo career, Joe created DNCE, and Kevin started a family. However, time eventually felt right to reunite. Nick told Ellen DeGeneres:
"When that decision came to end it, I think that the next step was just in discovering who we are as family and actually building a relationship outside of our work and our creative life. What we found is that we actually really like each other. It took some convincing. Joe was the last to come on board."
Joe agreed, admitting that it was "so special and so fun" to be back together making music.
"I wasn’t so quick to forgive Nick just yet but we worked through it."
Still, the brothers were able to evolve personally and musically, moving together towards a new, more mature sound. Joe explained at an appearance at the Grammy Museum:
"It took me a little while, but luckily I was figuring out, doing something on my own with DNCE was really special. Coming back around, I was like, ‘I’m good. I don’t need to do this thing that we said no to anymore.’ There was too much in the closet, and I feel like for us, we didn’t really want to work through all that stuff. All that said, the doc has been a really helpful tool for us."
