Why Does Dolly Parton Always Wear Fingerless Gloves?

Have you ever noticed that Dolly Parton is always wearing fingerless gloves with every outfit she wears? Is it a fashion statement, does she wear them because she likes them, or is there a really good reason for wearing them?

No matter what she is wearing that day, she is always wearing fingerless gloves. You may have not noticed them before because sometimes she wears the skin tone color, like nude to match her own skin. Of course, there are also times when she wears the kind that matches her clothes and then you can't help but notice them.

Dolly could be wearing them to make a fashion statement or because she wants to. Come on, she is, after all, the legendary Dolly Parton and can do whatever she wants to do. And, she doesn't have to give us any reason why she does anything because it is her business what she does. She could also be wearing them for a damn good reason. That is what we are here to find out though, right? Right!

Not only does Dolly Parton wear fingerless gloves every single day, but she also always wear long sleeve blouses. And, once you find out the reason for her wearing long sleeves all the time, it might answer your question as to why she is always wearing fingerless gloves.

Dolly was asked about why she wears long sleeves all the time. Vanity Fair wondered if she had tattoos she was covering up and although she does have tattoos, she actually got the tattoos to cover some scars she has on her body.

“I have a tendency to have keloid scar tissue, and I have a tendency where if I have any kind of scars anywhere then they kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of. So [my tattoos] are all pastels, what few that I have, and they’re meant to cover some scars.”

The answer to our question about why she wears long sleeves is to cover up the many tattoos she has on her body. The reason for the tattoos is to cover up the scars she has on her body.

This may be why she wears fingerless gloves too. According to Dolly Mania, a website dedicated to superfans of Dolly Parton and owned and operated by Duane Gordon since 1996, may be able to answer this question for us too. Here is an answer from Duane about the fingerless gloves question.

“For about the past nine months, Dolly has worn gloves with the fingers cut out of them at virtually every public appearance or photoshoot or video shoot, and the few times she has not had them on, she has instead worn sleeves that have additional fabric at the end so that they cover her wrists and upper parts of her hands. She has not publicly given her real reason for wearing them. Consequently, although many fans have asked me about them, I can't give an answer with first-hand information. She has even been asked about them on a couple of television interviews, and she joked about them, saying in one she was wearing them because she was cold and in another because she thought they were cute."

"However, I can relay third-hand information that she was asked about the gloves by fans while filming scenes for her upcoming movie Joyful Noise and told them that last year she had had corrective hand surgery (medical, not cosmetic) and it left a scar that she's covering. Again, I've not heard that directly from Dolly or her management, but I'm told that's the answer she gave privately in Atlanta to those who asked.”

It is probably safe to say that the gloves are being used to cover some scarring.
