Hollywood leading man Bradley Cooper appeared in a recent interview and got candid about some of his less savory experiences in Hollywood. The actor and director currently has several Oscar nominations for his roles in acting, writing, and producing many movies.
His first Oscar nomination was for his performance as the lead character in "Silver Linings Playbook." His other nominations were for his performances in "American Sniper," "American Hustle," "Nightmare Alley," and "A Star Is Born." "A Star Is Born" alone earned the movie producer three Oscar nominations.
Cooper mentioned two incidents where he was mocked for his Oscar nominations. The first was by a famous Hollywood actress when he got nominated for the first time, and the second was by a director during his seventh nomination.
Bradley Cooper Said A Famous Actress Mocked Him
Cooper recently recalled a time a famous Hollywood entertainer mocked him after his first Oscar nomination. The actor appeared in an episode of the "SmartLess" podcast and talked about his less savory moments in the Hollywood crowd.
The "A Star Is Born" actor currently has nine nominations. When "SmartLess" co-host Will Arnett brought the topic of his nominations up, Cooper talked about his experience after receiving his first Oscar nomination. His first nomination was due to his role in "Silver Linings Playbook."

Still, on the high of the nomination, Cooper revealed that he attended a party that had several prominent Hollywood names in attendance like Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, and others. He said, "This hero female actress that I didn't know at all comes up to me, she goes… 'I saw your movie. You deserve the nom."
Cooper emphasized the word "nom" in the sentence. The actor continued, "Ten, 20 minutes later— I'm not kidding— I passed her, like going to the bathroom, and she mouths it: 'The nom.' I remember [thinking], 'What the f--k is this town?' Can you imagine saying that to somebody? You've got to be f--ked up to do that."
Cooper Was Mocked For Having Seven Oscar Nominations
The Oscar nominee also recalled a time when he was mocked for having seven Oscar nominations. While the "Silver Linings Playbook" actor hasn't won an Academy award yet, he was nominated nine times. Three of those times were for his participation in 2018's musical remake of "A Star Is Born."
According to Cooper, a famous Hollywood director made a comment at a party during his "A Star Is Born" awards season. The movie was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, and Best Actor for Cooper.
During the party, the 47-year-old met with the director, who joked about his seven nominations. The actor attended the party with a notable actress who had three Oscar nominations of her own. Cooper recalled that the director said, "What world are we living in where you have seven nominations, and she's only got three?" He responded, "I'm like, 'Bro, why are you such an a--hole? I would never f--king forget that. Go f--k yourself."
Cooper Is Directing 'Maestro'
Cooper is trying his hand again at directing. The actor is currently working on "Maestro," which could earn him more Oscar nominations. The Netflix-backed movie is based on American composer Leonard Bernstein.
It will star Cooper in the titular role while Carey Mulligan will act beside him as Bernstein's wife, Felicia Montealegre. When describing his movie, the actor revealed that it centered around marriage and family but mostly around music.
"There's the movie, a movie about marriage, a movie about family. That's it," The actor said. "Why is it nuclear? Because it's this f--king music. Music is nuclear. I had a secret weapon in A Star is Born. It was Lady Gaga. The secret weapon I have in this movie is f--king Leonard Bernstein and Gustav Mahler. The music!"
Bradley Cooper On His Struggle With Alcohol
During the interview, Cooper also mentioned his self-esteem issues, struggles with addiction, and how he finally found his way into Hollywood. The actor recalled a time in 2004 when Arnett, the show's co-host, dropped by his house and pointed out that he was yet to let his dogs use the bathroom, although it was already afternoon.
"That was the first time I ever realized I had a problem with drugs and alcohol. It was Will saying that to me; I'll never forget it… it's changed my entire life." The actor also revealed that at the time, he had zero self-esteem and was constantly battling his demons.
"I was so lost," Cooper said. "And I was addicted to cocaine, that was the other thing… I severed my Achilles tendon right after I got fired-slash-quit 'Alias.'" The actor credited the current turn out of his life to him hitting rock bottom before he got famous.
