Billionaire Elon Musk has been the subject of scrutiny over the past few weeks due to his recent acquisition of Twitter, but it's one of his children that is making headlines of her own.

Earlier this week, the news finally leaked that one of Musk's twin children is looking to change her gender and name to Vivian Wilson to distance herself from the controversial Tesla CEO.

The Blast had obtained the documents when she filed them after she turned 18 in mid-April; however, we held off on posting the news to respect her right to come out on her own. However, the news leaked on Twitter ahead of Father's Day and was quickly picked up by media outlets the following Monday.

On Thursday, June 23, a court granted her name and gender change to match her chosen identity ahead of the hearing on Friday, June 24.

On Thursday, judge Rafael A. Ongkeko signed off on her name change petition a day earlier than expected. Vivian didn’t have to appear in person when the name change was granted.

The Blast obtained the official document, which showed that there were no objections to her petition to change her name and gender on her official documents.

As a result, the Los Angeles County Superior Court fully acknowledges that the 18-year-old is now Vivian Jenna Wilson, as she chose to trade "Musk" for her mother's maiden name.

In the court documents, Vivian said that the reason for the name change was not wanting to be associated with her biological father.

She listed "Gender Identity" as a reason for the petition, adding, "and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

Shortly after the news went public, her mother shared a private conversation between them on Twitter where she showed support for her daughter.

Justine Wilson Supports Her Daughter Vivian: 'I'm Very Proud Of You'

On Monday night, Justine Wilson, who still goes by Justine Musk on Twitter, posted a text message exchange between her and her daughter.

The tweet reads:

"I had a weird childhood," my 18 year old said to me. "I can't believe I'm as normal-seeming as I am."

I said, "I'm very proud of you."

"I'm proud of myself!"

However, the SpaceX founder has tweeted nothing about his daughter since the news broke. Instead, he has filled his followers' feeds with memes about 7-11, gas prices, and cheese ever since the news broke.

At this point, it is unclear if Musk reached out to discuss this with Vivian in private, but some things are best left behind closed doors.

Elon Musk married Canadian author Justine Wilson in January 2000. Two years later, the couple welcomed their first son, Nevada Alexander Musk. Unfortunately, when Nevada was only ten weeks old, he died of sudden infant death syndrome, known more commonly as SIDS.

The couple turned to IVF and Wilson gave birth to two twin children in 2004: Griffin and Vivian. They both turned 18 in mid-April.

In 2006, the former couple used IVF to welcome triplet sons: Kai, Saxon, and Damian. All three boys are now 16. Two years later, in 2008, Musk and Wilson filed for divorce but still share custody of their kids.
