Actor Ryan Reynolds shares three children with his wife Blake Lively.
The couple tied the knot in 2012. Their three daughters, James, 7, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2, were even the subject of a song called “betty” by Taylor Swift, who is a close friend of the couple.
During his discussion of “Creativity at the Pace of Culture” at Journal House on Tuesday morning, the “Deadpool” star opened up about his “wild” daughters.
Ryan Reynolds Jokes That His Daughters Are ‘Wild’: ‘I Think They Have Rabies Sometimes’
In a conversation that was recorded by Page Six, the “Free Guy” actor told the audience, “I’m a parent of three girls. They’re wild. I think they have rabies sometimes.” His response was met with an uproar of laughter.
“I’m like any parent – I’ll have a moment where I’ll just snap,” he went on. “It’s not so much what you do at the moment that’s interesting, it’s what you do afterward.”
The “Red Notice” actor, now 45, admitted that his “brutal mistakes” have actually given him most of his “successes” in both his acting career and his entrepreneurial endeavors.
“I used to tell my kids, ‘Don’t waste your mistakes,’” he told the crowd. “When you’re making mistakes it’s easy to sort of be absorbed by shame and sort of this idea that you’ve done something wrong, but you also have to look at it critically and use it as a stepping stone to learning something profound.”
Ryan Reynolds also said that his father also made a lot of “parenting mistakes” with him as well, saying, “He made a lot of mistakes. Some I’m grateful for.”
Blake Lively Opens Up On The Perks Of Being A Mother
As The Blast previously reported, the “Gossip Girl” alum has previously opened up about how much she loves being a mom.
Lively told Forbes that becoming a mother has changed her life in ways that she never expected. “Once I had children, that just became even more profound because my time was even more precious, but also I think having children for me made me feel so much more in my skin,” she said.
She added, “I never felt more myself or at ease in my own body or more confident — not to say that there aren’t a bevy of insecurities coming at me a million times a day, but I just feel incredibly settled.”
However, it appears that her acting career might have taken a hit because of it. In an interview with E! News in 2020, “The Shallows” star revealed that she was tentative to take on new roles if it meant spending time away from her children.
“I guess I really have to really, really, really, really love it, because I’m just obsessed with my kids,” Lively said at the time. “So, yeah, I think it’s gotta really be worth it to take me away.”
Later on, in November 2021, Lively sat down with People and decided that it is important for her children to see her as more than just a mother.
“I want to be as present of a mother as humanly possible, and I want them to feel my presence, but I also think the best way to be the best mother is to show them that you can have a life and have a passion and have an identity outside of just being a mother,” she said.
She added, “I mean, being a mother is completely all-encompassing, and that doesn’t mean there are a lot of mothers who don’t have the opportunity to work as well, but just having your [own] identity is, I think, very important.”
