Kim Kardashian is trying to get back on the path for success after admitting she slipped up in the diet & exercise department that resulted in some unwanted weight gain. The "KUWTK" star took to her Instagram Stories this weekend while hitting the gym before dinner.
"Guys we're doing a night workout before my dinner which I never do ... but I figure we have to get into it at some point. Sometimes we fall off and sometimes we really gotta get it together, this is one of my falling off times where I am up, I think 18 lbs up from what I was a year and a half ago, so to feel good I just need to get a really good goal weight, so that means working out at all costs."
Kim showed off another video the next morning proving that she's off to a good start and trying to stick to a dedicated routine. "A morning workout after a night workout is the best!!!" the "KUWTK" star wrote while getting her sweat on during a Stairmaster session. When Kim was in her peak shape, she described working out 6 days per week and sticking to a rotating schedule around cardio and strength training exercises.
Kim said she has a "goal weight" that needs to be reached by the time she turns 40 next year.
"It’s my eating. I work out but it’s like, my eating. But Melissa and I have a major goal for by the time I’m 40."
She didn't reveal the exact goal, but the date has been set at October 21, 2020.
Food has always been a guilty pleasure for Kim, and her struggles with a tasty treat was regularly chronicled on episodes of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
In the past, Kim has credited her slim physique to the Atkins diet, which is focused on carb-restriction and has been heavily criticized by health gurus. The 39-year-old later changed her ways when her trainer began teaching Kim about nutrition and the balance of carbs.
"My trainer Mel always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken. You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat and carbs," she told Harpers Bazaar in a 2018 interview.
The Kardashians are known for taking fitness seriously, even Rob, but Kim takes her workouts to another level while working with a strength trainer. Kim has described that her day begins by waking up at 5:30 AM so she can hit a 6:00 AM gym session.
Kim's trainer, Mel Alcantra, told Women's Health:
"85 percent of our training is weight training, and the other 15 is made up of cardio. Kim loves to work the back of her legs, the hamstrings and the booty!"
She also said they have one entire day dedicated to ab work. Kim said the results were amazing, once she dedicated herself to a routine.
<"I didn’t see results right away, but when you stick with something and you’re consistent, you will. So, I love it."
